According to the Daily Mirror:

Liverpool has been put up for sale for a staggering 600 million pounds.

Hicks and Gillett originally purchased the team in 2007 for just over 200 million and are hoping to triple their investment in three years...not bad business if you can get it.

Angry Liverpool fans will be quick to point out that the American owners have done nothing but quibble since purchasing the team from David Moores and will be happy to see the end of what can only be termed a 'cash grab' by individuals who obviously have little knowledge, respect or love for the game of football.

Manager Rafa Benitez has piled on the misery by stating he will need at least 80 million pounds to rebuild the team, in order to compete with those chasing Champions League spots in Europe.

One can only imagine if this is the future of football, as 'venture capitalists' take over teams like corporate acquisitions - looking to flip for a profit at the first available opportunity.
