Leafs Frozen With Frogren Deal

Matt BowlerCorrespondent IJuly 14, 2008

Last week the Leafs signing of Jonas Frogren was rejected by the NHL office.  The Leafs had signed Frogren to a standard contract, but the NHL said he must be signed to an entry level contract as a first year NHL player despite his pro experience with Farjestad in the Swedish Elite League.

Jonas -six-foot-one, 200 hundred pound, stay at home defense-man- would be a nice addition to the Maple Leafs club.  Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher was impressed with his play at the world championships and hopes that Frogren will be available to them for training camp in September.

This tough defensive defense-man is exactly what the Leafs are looking for.  He is expected to be one of the top 6 defense-men on the team.

Lets hope the Leafs and the NHL Players Association can get this paper work straightened out!!
