Two Days In: I'm Officially Sick Of Tiger Woods

Bill CodyApr 9, 2010

I wrote an article a couple days ago stating that I hoped that Tiger Woods would get his act together and thrill us with his golf game.

That was before I had one of the most disgusting adverts I have ever seen shoved down my throat while I was trying to watch ESPN's Master coverage.

Pro-Tiger fans and Nike execs may disagree, but taking a dead man's words out of context and slapping them over the top of a pouting-for-cameras Tiger in an attempt to sell golf products is despicable—even if Tiger signed off on the ad.

Even more criminal is Tiger's acting. Dude, take some classes before you cry for the cameras. I haven't seen acting this bad since Seth Rogen's turn last year in Funny People . Pathetic!

I also wrote that article before the FAA wasted the time of two inspectors—who I am quite sure have a lot of better things to do—were sent out  to ground an advertising prop plane that was flying near the course towing anti-Tiger banners. FAA inspectors were reportedly able to ground the plane because it had a seat belt that didn't meet FAA standards.

A seat belt? How long did it take to find that minor infraction? Did they go over the plane for pocket lint violations as well?

I know the Nazis at Augusta have far reaching power but the fact that that the safety of other citizens is being put at risk to make sure Tiger isn't disturbed while in the hunt for the Green Jacket is—well—disturbing.

I'm seriously thinking of filing a complaint asking for the removal of the Augusta tower operators behind the incident. But then more taxpayer money would be wasted on Tiger-nonsense.

And that's not even getting into the fact that I had to look online to get the results of any golfer other than Tiger during ESPN's first day coverage of the Masters.

Look: Tiger's bending over. Tiger's talking to Steve, his caddie. Tiger passes gas.

Good lord.

I know I'm in the minority regarding this but I sure wouldn't mind if Tiger had a bad round on Saturday and dropped out of contention. That way, at least we could get back to watching golf rather watching the circus freak that Tiger has become.

I still think the guys' a great golfer. His performance up to this point shows the kinds of skill he has for the game. Five months off and he's tied for third after thirty six holes.

But if dude's gonna be the new Britney Spears, then I couldn't care less.
