The fastest drivers, the best drivers. In F1 there's no denying there's a distinct difference. Take Alain Prost, one of the best drivers of all time but renowned for his intelligence and consistency, rather that outright pace.

So...here is my suggestion of the top 10 fastest drivers - those with the talent to wring the neck of the car, to be all others in outright pace but not necessarily to deliver over the course of a race or championship.

10) Alberto Ascari

9) Mika Hakkinnen

8) Emerson Fittipaldi

7) Juan Manuel Fangio

6) Jackie Stewart

5) Ronnie Peterson

4) Michael Schumacher

3) Giles Villeneuve

2) Jim Clark

1) Ayrton Senna

Any thoughts?

(And i haven't included any of the drivers from the new era, i my opinion too hard to make a judgement yet)
