IWC fans are complaining about something missing from the WWE in comparison to the 80s and 90s, and trust me, it's not the lack of blood. As proved by the classic 80s matches, blood doesn't make a match perfect.
The WWE needs to stop thinking that the WWE superstars are MMA fighters, and must stop trying to make them look like MMA fighters, we need back the crazy gimmicks!
If you take a look at the roster of the 80s and 90s you will realize that the majority of the wrestlers had a crazy gimmick, Kane was the monster that was born in hell, Papa Shango was the Voodoo Priest, The Ultimate Warrior was the crazy maniac, and the list goes on and on.
The crazy gimmicks give wrestling something special, it gives everybody a personality. For instance look at Kane then, and look at Kane now. Back then he was the destroyer, the monster , the son of Satan, but after the mask was removed and he got a more normal look he is nothing more than a bald guy.
Another example is Ted DiBiase SR. Is there anyone here that will ever forget, the Million Dollar Man. The gimmick of a corrupted millionaire made him a perfect heel, he was against all the morals and the ideas of the 80s.
Take a look at Goldust, will you ever forget him? I doubt it. That's because of his gimmick, you don't see a man dressed in gold, repeating movie catchphrases everyday, do you?
In other it's the gimmicks that made the WWE unique. I am not saying that Papa Shango would have been over with the crowd, but it's great to see some madness here and there.
