Edmonton Oilers Look Forward to '08-'09 Season With New Faces

The Edmonton Oilers are an interesting team.  At times they are the most exciting hockey club to watch on the ice, and at times they dwell in the bottom of the standings.  The last couple of seasons have truly been a roller coaster ride.  With a Cinderella story Stanley Cup final visit and two seasons in a row where they missed the playoffs, the Oilers can't wait for a fresh start.

With offseason acquisitions of Erik Cole, Lubomir Visnovsky, and Gilbert Brule, the Oilers will have a different look physically and hopefully offensively.  GM Kevin Lowe is hoping that the new faces will be able to replace and out perform Joni Pitkanen, Raffi Torres, Jarret Stoll, and Matt Greene, who were all dealt away in transactions.

It has been reported that Head Coach Craig MacTavish is quite excited to start training camp and why wouldn't he be?  He will enjoy mixing and matching players to see who fits where while also dealing with a goaltending battle between Mathieu Garon and Dwayne Roloson.

It should be an exciting season for Oilers' fans who are eagerly anticipating another winning season and playoff berth.

Perhaps if Kevin Lowe would stop his feuding with Brian Burke, hockey fans would be able to see the great moves he's made in rebuilding the Oilers into a legitimate contender for the upcoming year.
