Urijah Faber is no stranger to the limelight and no stranger to working under pressure, and with WEC 48 only two weeks away all eyes are on the 30 year old Sacramento native.
“I’m looking forward to a battle and looking forward to getting that strap back for California.” Faber told 5thround.com in a recent interview.
“I’m excited, fights are always about the matchups and I couldn’t ask for a more exciting matchup than with Jose Aldo,”
Current WEC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is looking to cement his name to the world with a definitive win over “The California Kid”. Aldo currently holds an impressive 16-1 record, has been making a quick and concise name for himself (much like his fights). While Aldo fans are prepping for the first title defense by the Brazilian native, fans in Sacramento are already planning the victory party only minutes from the Arco Arena fight site.
Many Faber fans still recall the 2009 Faber vs Mike Brown rematch in which Urijah Faber suffered a nasty break in his right hand. With a broken hand, Faber was able to keep a close fight with Brown but ultimately lost to the scorecards.
While many speculate on the past of Faber, one reality is certain; WEC 48 is only two weeks away and Jose Aldo is standing in the way of the Lightweight Belt being back in the arms of the California Kid.
