Do you believe the Kansas City Chiefs will be a bad team this season?
I sure do.
The Kansas City Chiefs have traded away many of ther good players in the last couple years. Those players include Trent Green two seasons ago and Jared Allen this off-season. Adding to that, Willie Roaf retired, Eddie Kennison was released and Priest Holmes retired.
Basically, head coach Herm Edwards and general manager Carl Peterson are looking for a youth movement.
The Chiefs went 9-7 two seasons ago and loss to the Colts in the wild card game.
The Chiefs had many draft picks in this year's NFL Draft.
There draft look like this: Round 1, Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU | Round 1, Branden Albert, G, Virginia | Round 2, Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech | Round 3, Jamaal Charles, RB, Texas | Round 3, Brad Cottam, TE, Tennessee | Round 3, DaJuan Morgan, S, North Carolina State | Round 4, William Franklin, WR, Missouri | Round 5, Brandon Carr, CB, Grand Valley State | Round 6, Barry Richardson, T, Clemson | Round 6, Kevin Robinson, WR, Utah State | Round 7, Brian Johnston, DE, Gardner-Webb | Round 7, Mike Merritt, TE, UCF
They have many young players on this years team and that is why I believe they will struggle.
Projected Lineup:
QB: Brodie Croyle will start because it is time for a change in Kansas City. In Brodie's career, he has played in 11 games, throwing 6 TD's and 8 INT's. If he is ineffective, look for veteran Damon Huard to step in.
RB: This position looks to be set with Larry Johnson. Despite only scoring three rushing TD's last season, he will be healthy and return to his form. Between 2005 and 2006 Larry scored 37 TD's on the ground. Last season's 5th round pick Kolby Smith will be used as a backup along with rookie Jamaal Charles from Texas.

I disagree with just about everything you said. To the avid Chiefs fan, it's obvious that you haven't been keeping up with the Chiefs at all, because you failed to mention some key backups (like Brandon Carr, 5th round pick, who is expected to start at some point, and Mike Cox, the other FB who played under the Chiefs' offensive coordinator in college) and you listed people as starters that aren't (Wade Smith and Billy Cundiff). Try again next time.

Not really..He didn't make any errors. I'm a die hard Chiefs fan, but I'ts hard to disagree with what he said. If your going to watch the Chiefs this year, then you better be watching to see individual performances from T-Gonz, D-Bowe, LJ, DJ, Dorsey and maybe Herm..he's always entertaining....
Great entry Jake. I hope your wrong, but I doubt it haha

I don't think they even win 3 games. I believe the Raiders sweep them.

3 wins is a stretch in the wrong direction. granted, they're probably 99% likely to miss the play-offs this year; however, they will be improved over last year with a mark of Four wins.
First of all, look at the strength of schedule, with a mixture of mostly "meaningless games" outside of the following contenders: Week 1 - @ New England, Week 7 - vs Tennessee, ...and that's it outside of the weak AFC West divisional opponents, San Diego being the favorite there. With that schedule and the timeless axiom "on any given Sunday", the team stands to possibly be a .500 or better team.
To take an exam at the "trading their best talent away over the past few years" comment, that's one guy, that's Jared Allen. Trent Green did exactly what since he's left KC, or to be more specific what has he done since his last major concussion on the opener against Cincinatti a few years ago? Everybody else on your list, including Green had already reached their ceiling, it was the twilight of their careers. The mistake in letting the line deteriorate due to age has been remedied with the Chiefs upgrading at every position. Branden Albert's reports out of camp are exactly the beast they expected him to be. Brian Waters is Brian Waters, giving us a quick & powerful backside tandem to protect youngster Croyle.
Chris Terry and Kyle Turley being excavated for the likes of Niswanger at Center, Adrian Jones at Right Guard and Damion MacIntosh at Right Tackle. DM has moved back to his original spot on the strong-side of the line, therefore, you can see how drastically the game changes with the revamped O-Line. This is not a top-10 unit, but they should rank in the middle of the road, 2nd best in the division.
Also, you have to give some of the blame for the low-scoring offense from last year to First/Last year Offensive Coordinator Mike Solari, who meant well but was nothing more than a shell of the system under offensive mastermind Al Saunders. They have since brought in Chan Gailey, his track record at every program he's coached at makes this a relative lock. He's brought a "no-name" approach to the game with a balanced attack and years of expierence calling plays under his belt. Already the offensive guys have noticed how at ease they feel in the system during OTAs in the offseason.
The offense isn't pretty, but it won't be ugly. With a healthy LJ and a balanced attack this should alleviate the pressure on the QB who will be more or less managing the game at this point in his career. Everybody wants to point out Brodie Croyle as a bust already, but he hasn't been given much of a chance to do anything with the ball. No protection=no production. He should start making advances this year, knowing that the starting job is his. Not his to lose, his to win, that's HIS job.
A lot could happen over the span of the year, but to think that a team with this solid of a defense and now a balanced offense could only win 3 games in this C- strength schedule is absurd.
If you would stop watching ESPN's NFL Live before posting articles, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Mucho Thanks.

The only reason to not watch the Chiefs this year is if you are a bandwagon fan. If so, please don't watch the Chiefs. However, if you aren't a bandwagon fan, it will be very exciting to watch the future of the team work things out and make plays. Larry is back (you can read my article), Tony is Tony, and Dwayne Bowe is emerging as a star. My guess is that the Chiefs win 5 games, give or take a few, and end up with another sexy draft pick. After all, how do you think that chargers became the team they are today? Drafting 15th every draft?

Yeah, I got a good laugh out of that one, too. Apparently, we'll be so bad this year that we'll be awarded a loss during our bye week, too! LMAO! I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but there are so many things about this article that are way off base. For example, the Chiefs have sold out every home game since 1989. They're almost finished selling out the entire '08 season already and that's even with a gloomy outlook on this season. Needless to say, I disagree with the notion that the Chiefs will only win 3 games this year. If you take a look at our schedule, we only face 3 team (if my memory serves me correctly) that were in the upper half of the league in rushing yards allowed. The Chiefs will be a run heavy offense this year with one of the deepest and most talented RB corps in the league. That alone should get us to at least 5-11. Then, throw in the fact that our offensive line is improved at C, RG and RT and you'll see we won't give up nearly as many sacks as last year, either. Personally, I could see the Chiefs finishing with a record anywhere from 5-11 to 11-5, mainly depending on how many mistakes Croyle makes. The rest of our team is pretty damn solid, though.

I really like Herms youth movement approach but anyone thats thinks they "know" what this season is going to look like is just plain kidding themselves. The fact is, there are way too many unknowns to say anything for sure. I think Herm needs two more seasons to get this figured out. Herm is sifting through as much young tallent as possible and is going to need 3-4 off seasons to sift through enough bodies to fill out an entire roster. We do seem to be doing a much better job of finding tallent through the draft than the 10 years before Herm got here.
Anyone that says we will be good because of players like Brandon Carr, Branden Albert, or even Glen Dorsey is just guessing. Betting on rookies is a sucker bet. I hope these guys are all future pro-bowlers but I wouldn't bet on pro-bowl seasons in 08.
Come on rookies prove me wrong.
I think a 4-12 record is more likely than a 10-6 record but I think that's the kind of range we are looking at for this team in 08.

Put Justin's post and Bryan's post together and add the fact that one huge reason the Chiefs did so bad last year is that LJ was a hold out during training camp and he got hurt for half of the season with a complete idiot in Mike Solari calling the Offensive plays. Hey Chiefs fans remember this from last year?
Solari: I have an idea lets run on 3rd and very long a bunch of times this season, no one will expect it and maybe me RB will get 5 yards short of the 1st down every time and we can punt it so our D can do everything for us!!! That means less work for me and more work for the defensive coordinator!!!
THANK GOD SOLARI IS GONE!!!!!
Jake don't post articles that focus on the Chiefs team from last year and don't post articles you know nothing about. Thank you.

I would like to see how well the Bears will do this season with both WR's Bernard Berrian and Muhsin Muhammad and RB Cedric Benson gone. Great job helping out your QB's that have more ints in their careers then TD's. How about you make an article about that? Oh wait your a Bears fan. Nothing can go wrong for your team so lets talk about teams that you know nothing about!!! Go back to the Bears.
