Jim McCrossin is the Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach of both the Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia Phantoms. McCrossin is in his fourteenth season with the Flyers’ organization. He served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Hartford Whalers during the 1995-96 season.
McCrossin previously worked with the Flyers as an athletic trainer with Pat Croce. He is a graduate of West Chester University and is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Jimmy, as he is known through the Flyers’ dressing room, is one of the most respected people in the Flyers’ organization. Not only does he make sure that the players stay healthy, but he is a genius with medicine, and has helped players rehab from the most dangerous injuries.
He helped Eric Lindros come back from his many concussions, although Lindros was injured often because of his style of play, not so much his conditioning.
McCrossin has helped Keith Primeau, Jeremy Roenick, Simon Gagne, and other key players in the organization bounce back from horrible injuries. He has helped players get ready for games when it would seem as if they wouldn’t be able to play.
McCrossin has showed everyone what a true work ethic is. He works his tail off 24/7 to make sure that our Fly boys are healthy enough to play the fastest, coolest game on earth. Jimmy is a great man, a man that the Flyers are proud to call their own. This is exactly why he is ranked number nine on my list of influential people in Flyers’ history.
Note: This is part two of a ten part series. Stay tuned, a new one will be published every day.
