Ever heard the term, "Crazy like a fox"? Admittedly this is a crazy idea; A girls coach!? Here!?

Let me quell your worries. Now that Oliver Purnell is off to recapture the storied history of Depaul basketball, we need a splash here in Clemson nation. We've already heard the names bantered about, some good; Brad Stevens, (pipe dream), some bad; Ken McDonald, and some somewhere in between; Shaka Smart, Gregg Marshall.

But none of those names brings what Geno Auriemma would bring...Instant publicity. The day after he would be hired he would be on 5 good minutes on PTI. Every media source would mention it, ESPN would not stop talking about "how will he do, can he recruit, will men play for him?"

All those questions would be going through the minds of Clemson nation as well, I'm sure.

But lets look at the facts; He knows X's and O's, you have to to win 70 straight some odd games on any level. He has a prickly personality which is needed in the ACC, a la Rick Barnes. He wouldn't get pushed around by Coach K and Huckleberry Hound, or the crooked ACC refs.  And although it was with girls, he knows how to recruit.  And recruiting is about finding the decision maker in the prospect's life and squeezing them.

Now I know this is a pipe dream because our AD, Terry Don Phillips, is a gutless cheap skate and Auriemma will probably want some serious coin.  But if I am Phillips, the first call Geno gets when he wakes up in the morning is from me, telling him our private plane is on the way and we aren't leaving until he is on it; destination Littlejohn Coliseum.
