A couple of years ago, someone discovered that Brian Billick had appeared as a contestant on Match Game PM, but only screen shots got passed around, not the videos.

For those unfamiliar with Match Game, it was a riotously funny game show in the '70s and early '80s that featured two contestants and a panel of six celebrities.

Host Gene Rayburn would read a sentence with a blank, a contestant and the panel would pick a word or phrase to fill in the blank, and the contestant would score points or win money by matching answers with the panel.

A very young and longhaired Billick appeared on the PM edition of the show (it was on in both the day time and prime time) in 1977. He had just been cut from the NFL, he explains, and he is just starting a career as a coach.

Thanks to the Game Show Network and YouTube user SuperPAC, we can now see a video of his performance in two parts: part 1 and part 2.

It's a good thing he decided to make his career in coaching football and not in matching celebrity responses in game shows. The best quote came from panelist Richard Dawson, who shortly before Billick's exit commented, "Failed at football. Failed at Match Game. Where will you go now?"
