Arsenal: Arsene Should Think About Buying These Players
I know the season is not over and, through adversity, the Arsenal players have shown great fight and deserve something from this season.
Whether or not this will be achieved is another matter, but I feel Arsenal will have the finances this summer to add to a developing squad. A few sales would also free up cash, but that's another article for another day.
It is time for us to push on and dominate this league once more, and a few acquisitions would not go amiss.
Craig Gordon £10-15 million
Tall, agile, young, and tested.
No. 1 for club and country and has been a highly rated young keeper for a number of years now. Knows the league well and needs a new challenge.
Now 28, he will be ready to leave the mediocre teams of the past and look to establish his career with silver wear.
Twenty-eight is a great age for a keeper because you know he can still improve.
The price tag may put Wenger off but in the long run he would be worth it.
Manuel Neuer £12 million
OK, so he has the same name as Arsenal's current No. 1, but this 24-year-old has double the talent and even more potential.
As German as another old timer once between the sticks, he may have that German steel and self belief that our current No. 1 appears to lack at times.
The price tag could put Wenger off, as all price tags do, but this is a hole that must be filled.
Hugo Lloris £10-15 million
I know at the time I'm writing this he is only 23 but the boy is talented beyond his years.
I believe we'd be out-priced, and he isn't greatly experienced, though he is in the Champions League with Lyon.
I also think he would be reluctant to leave his team at this time, but watch out for this talent.
David James £0-1 million
A brave choice given that he is not free of mistakes even at his age.
He is however cheap as chips, just the way Wenger likes it, and is vastly experienced in the Premiership and internationally.
Not a good long-term choice for me.
Brede Hangeland £10-15 million
Tall, strong, and a seasoned competitor, this guy is an ultimate warrior of Premiership defending.
Fulham has been refusing to sell, therefore inflating any price we offer, which will probably put Wenger off.
Phil Jagielka £8-10 million
Stong, determined, and a real fighter. Can also play anywhere you want, so a possible fill in for DM.
Has had injury problems but this man is a mountain.
Would Everton sell? I doubt it.
Giorgio Chiellini £20-25 million
Great defender but way too pricey.
Will probably not want to leave Juve, especially because, as we all know, it's a special club.
For me they no longer hold any gravitas in European football and they're also cheats, as the Italian ref scandal will prove.
There is talk of a swap deal with Gallas. The problem is Gallas is out of contract this summer and could leave for nothing anyway. His preferred team? Yep, Juventus.
Wenger will not look to spend this much on a player, especially a defender; however, this defender could be the best in the world.
It's an extremely long shot.
Self-styled, athletic, and a good defender.
Only 26 so he may not consider leaving Italy anytime soon.
Scott Parker £10 million
This is my only midfield request.
He is experienced and can do it all in the midfield: tackle, hold position, and pass. This guy can do it easy for breakfast.
Tough, workman-like, and dedicated.
This would be an ideal buy. An Englishman in the middle of the park; it just has a ring to it.
I pray to Wenger to make this purchase.
Carlton Cole £10-15 million
A good buy for me. Can do everything Bendtner can do—but better. I have a picture in my head of him, Chamakh, and Robin Van Persie upfront and it is scary.
Could be affordable, especially if Eduardo or Bendtner is let go. Bendtner may have earned his spot for another season, but Eduardo? I don't think so.
I have a feeling Wenger likes him but would he chance his arm on an English striker? Who remembers Jeffers?
Also, Arsharvin and his big mouth may not be too happy, but a rotation would benefit him.
Edin Dzeko £20 million
I am a big fan of this guy. He is good in the air and even better on the floor, a true finisher.
Only problem is he would be difficult to buy with him being a massive target for everyone. His price tag continues to rise.
Wenger has already shown interest, but Wolsburg have made it hard with increased price demands, almost using Arsenal as a selling agent for other teams.
His talent is also still unproven.
Andre-Pierre Gignac £15 million
Decent all-around player, but he hasn't proven himself.
Did I mention he is French?
Wenger would love this guy.
