If Gary Matthews Jr. keep playing this well centerfield job is his to keep until Carlos Beltan is back to form. Matthews Jr. first day at Citifield  went two for three score two runs. Matthews Jr. had one walk and play a very good outfield. The wind was blowing pretty good but, he play good defense. This is a new ball park he get learning about. Matthews Jr. at the end of the lineup makes more power and speed to the lineup. Gary Matthews Jr. was named the Opening Day center fielder yesterday by Mets manager Jerry Manuel, but doesn't mean he has won the job. Manuel said the race is still on between Matthews and Angel Pagan in the battle for the position until Carlos Beltran returns, but Matthews is going to get first crack. Mets won 7 to 1 on Opening day!
