This is a list of 5 teams that could shock some people come this post season. For the most part these are young teams with alot of potential and upside, but haven't showed it all yet. Some teams that missed the cut include Milwaukee, because of the recent injury to Andrew Bogut, the Phoenix Suns, a run by them wouldn't be much of a suprise, and Chicago, I don't think they will pass Toronto for the 8th spot in the east.
This Hawks team is set in the front court for many years with Al Horford at C, Josh Smith at PF, and Marvin Williams at SF. The experienced and clutch backcourt of Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby make for a very ballanced and potentially dangerous starting 5. As it looks now they would grab the 3 seed in the east and play Milwaukee. If they can get past them they have a good shot at playing for an Eastern Conference championship.
The Bobcats are another team that has a good balance of youth and experience. The youth being PG Raymond Feltonand Reserve PF Tyrus Thomas. The experience part of the team is stacked. Gerald Wallace at PF, Stephen Jackson at SG, Boris Diaw at SF, and Theo Ratliff and Tyson Chandler at C. As of now they would be in as the 7th seed and play Orlando in the 1st round. A tough task, but the great coaching of Larry Brown could help them pull the upset.
This is a team that can win a championship in the near future if they can get 2 things going, Greg Oden, and anyone at SF. In Odens absence Marcus Camby has filled in nicely, providing a strong defensive presence down low. Helping him out is PF LaMarcus Aldridge, who has been very solid and better than most expected in his first couple years. Andre Miller has been very solid at PG and of course Brandon Roy will be key if the Blazer are to steals a few games in from the Lakers or someone else in the 1st round.
The Jazz are the best team on this list. They could end up with the 2 seed in the west and make a strong run at a title this year. The PG-PF combo of Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer is remenisent of another combo that use to run Salt Lake City. That of course being Hall of Famers John Stockton and Karl Malone. Wes Matthews has shocked many, including me, with his play this season at SG. Kyle Korver is on pace to break the single season record for 3pt% . Paul Millsap, AK47, and Mehmet Okur, have contributed nicley in the front court. The team could up end the Lakers in the post season.
