On Fire: Kovalev Leads the Habs to a 4-3 OT Win

Icon Sports MediaAlex Kovalev has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and Tuesday night was more of the same as the Habs faced a slumping Toronto Maple Leafs team.

Alex Kovalev netted his ninth goal of the season, and had two assists on the night, which added to his blazing start to the 2007/2008 NHL Campaign.

Andrei Markov and Andrei Kostitsin both added goals, as the Habs got their first win of the year over the Leafs in overtime, thanks to a breakaway goal by Mike Komisarek 0:35 seconds into The OT Period.

Carey Price shut the door with 41 saves, and held strong through eight penalties charged against the Habs, four of which were Markov's.

The Habs have shown signs of a superpower in the NHL this year, especially during the line of Kovalev, Tomas Plekanec, and Kostitsin. All three players had points on Tuesday, as the Habs improved their record to 10-4-3, and second in the Northeast division in the Eastern Conference.
