The defending National League Western Division Champions were pretty much set going into the 2010 campaign.
However, there were still two positions up for grabs as we closed in on the season.
Joe Torre announced this afternoon that they are open no more.
As the story of the Dodgers 2010 season unfolds this may be one of the organizations finest decisions.
Blake DeWitt and Charlie Haeger Win Dodger Spots
Blake DeWitt and Charlie Haeger won't have to pack their bags this April except to fly to Los Angeles as part of the LA Dodgers opening day roster.
After much talk and as many false starts the Los Angeles Dodgers have named the winners of the only two positions that were still up for grabs this spring.
The wait is Finally Over at 2'nd base
Congratulations to Blake Dewitt and I, for one, hope that his great spring at the plate continues as the new season unfolds.
Hitting has not been an issue for DeWitt this spring but 4 avoidable errors has the Dodger brass concerned and is the main reason this decision was put off for so long.
The Knuckleball is Alive and Well
If you had followed the Dodgers spring this year it was a great month for Charlie Haeger.
His control was there early and often all spring and is the big reason Joe Torree and Rick Honeycutt feel confident that the number 5 spot in the rotation is a good fit for Charlie.
I know I am looking forward to watching his knuckler confuse and confound opposing bats this year.
