Corey Patterson Returns to Cubs

Can’t believe Corey Patterson is back with the Cubs.

After being dumped by Seattle this week, Patterson opted-out of his contract to become a free agent.

Lo and behold…the Cubs came calling with a minor league contract for the 30-year-old. What on earth is Jim Hendry thinking?

Since Chicago traded him to Baltimore in 2006, Patterson has flopped with the O’s…Nats…RedsBrewers…and lastly Seattle.

He has 30 plate appearances total in the last two years…good for a .133 avg. with Washington and .073 avg. with Milwaukee.

I’m truly confused…what exactly must Patterson do not to be given a contract? The guy doesn’t hit…doesn’t get on base…doesn’t improve.

And yet, Corey somehow hangs around the game…still has believers…still gets chance after chance to prove what? That he’s not a MLB material? Astonishing!

“We’re not after his bat, we’re after his glove,” “our outfield defense is thin, [Patterson] will help that,” said Hendry.

If it wasn’t for April Fools’ Day…I’d be handing in my Cubs card!
