NFL, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Brett Favre, Preview/Prediction

I was thinking about the possibility of future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre playing for the Green Bay Packers' biggest rival, and it is was quite scary.

I was sort of sick of all the stories about him coming back, but now I would like to see this happen.

If he were to be released from the Packers and sign with the Bears, the Packer fans who love Brett Favre, would hate his guts forever.

It would be very crazy if this were to happen, but the teams that would actually take Brett Favre would be the Bucs, Ravens, Dolphins, Jets, Vikings, and Bears.

I never really liked Brett Favre, but maybe I will learn to like him if he does join Bears Nation in Chicago.

Yes, he has 442 TD's, over 60,000 passing yards, nine Pro-Bowl selections, but he is 38 years old and he has contemplated retirement for about five years now.

It has been reported that he worked out at a high school in his hometown in Mississippi and he says he is ready to go for this season. He defiantly shows his dedication for the game of football.

The GM of Green Bay Packers Ted Thompson said, if Brett comes back he will be the backup to first round pick Aaron Rodgers.

Over 56,000 people voted on a poll on Yahoo Sports that asked: Where will Brett Favre play in 2008?
The votes and choices looked like this:

Chicago
26%
Green Bay
9%
Minnesota
22%
Other
43%

If Brett Favre does wind up in the Windy City, he will be in a battle with Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton who both want the starting quarterback job.

It will be an interesting story with all this Brett Favre news and I would love to see him in a Bears uniform.

  1. it could happen. I dont think it will, but nice article. He would instantly give chicago some checks in the win column.

  2. If Brett went to Chicago "he will be in a battle with Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton who both want the starting quarterback job." I would have to disagree with that statement, there would be no battle. He WOULD be the starting qb. It would make tons of sense to bring him in and have a legend ride the bench, right? lol Obviously, wherever Brett goes, he will be the starter.

  3. God, I've had this frakkin' dream since 1992. I would love to have Favre as a Bear, especially with the anemic QB's we have now. It'll never happen, but I"d love how this would just kill Packers fans. That thought alone is making me smile. As much fun as it is to imagine #4 in blue and orange, it's a really sick thought to imagine him in purple and yellow. If he can't be a Bear, I want him out of the NFC North.

p.s. The Packers are fools not to welcome him back. The PR guy must be ready to shoot himself. Or the GM.

  4. Head over to SaveBrett.net to sign the online petition urging the Packers to take Brett Favre back. Seldom does a genuine hero come along ... Rarer still one who needs our help. The site just went up overnight. Be the first to sign and show your support! ------- http://www.SaveBrett.net

  5. Jake, thanks for the laugh about the big battle. Brett could beat them both left-handed, more importantly would make the coming season much brighter and not so bleak looking.

  6. As much as I would love to see a future hall of famer behind center in Chicago, I doubt that a QB of Favre's caliber would agree to sign on with a team that just gutted their receiving depth, is rebuilding the O-line, and has an untested backfield. Sad as it makes me, he deserves to be on a team that is ready to win now. The Vikes fit that bill. God save us should that happen....

  7. it wont but thanks for the comment

  8. This would make sense if the Bears had Superbowl ready team with the exception of the QB situation but they dont'.

Favre would pick the Bears' pockets and come in and fail. We have no-name receivers, a line we're in the process of rebuilding, and RB situation that kind of got brighter since we signed Jones today, but not much brighter considering our depth is a rookie and the "wrong A.P.".

I know Rex has had some terribly awful games, but the kid has had absolutely nothing to work with since he came to Chicago. Favre, who is older and has been outplayed by Grossman on several occasions (2005 to take the North, '06 to shut him out for first time in Favre's career, etc.) would come to Chicago and fail behind a stagnant offense.

This article is nice, but it makes little sense considering Chicago's troubles with the offense start with our line and not our QB. Rex has proven he can play when he gets protection and time.

And no offense, but people want Rex gone because of turnovers, right? You think bringing the king of INT's and timely indecision is going to change that?

CHICAGO FANS - STOP THE QB CAROUSEL. 22 YEARS IS LONG ENOUGH. PICK A GUY AND STICK WITH HIM THROUGH THICK AND THIN.

How do you think Favre got where he's at? He was horrible on the Falcons, his first NFL pass was an INT returned for a TD, and was basically a joke who got traded away. Look at him now. Peyton Manning went 3-13 his first full season as a starter, and was morbid until about his third year, look at him now. Drew Brees was traded away from the Chargers for poor play and injuries - look at him now. You need to give a QB more than 2 seasons of play before you judge him, and Grossman hasn't even had that.

  9. i agree with you Jimmy I am a Rex fan to. Thanks for the comment

  10. Judy
It would be a dream come true- Brett in a Bear uniform!!! We haven't had a great quarterback since Luckman- Yes #4 would look real good-----Let him go Greenbay--------
