Murray Claimed By Florida
The Montreal Canadiens placed Garth Murray on re-entry waivers, thinking of bringing him back up as added depth after fully recovering from a fractured ankle. However, the Florida Panthers saw something that no one else has and claimed him off waivers.

The six foot two utility forward is a hard nose checker, and will never amount to much more then that. With the Panthers, Murray will see similar playing time that he saw in his previous stints with the Canadiens and the Rangers. Or he will be sent down the AHL to give them more depth.

The Regina, SK native has 10 points through 100 NHL games thus far, while averaging one PIM per game during that stretch.

Side Note: The Canadiens traded Marcel Hossa to the Rangers for Murray back in 2005. Hossa is brother of Marian Hossa, and has 56 points through 200 NHL games and is considered to have top six forward potential.

In other words: the Canadiens traded away a top two forward for a 4th line checker who they no longer have.
