With the rush of extreme sports comes the inherent risk. These extreme athletes continuously push themselves to do the next trick bigger, faster and higher. But with that ambition comes the chance for some serious pain if not properly executed.
Skateboarders are arguably at most risk. These sages of the skateboard and legends of the longboard ride hand rails, ramps, retaining walls, anything they can get their board on in search of extreme glory. Unfortunately, not everyone can be winners and the result are some of the nastiest, bone-crunching, nut-splitting crashes we've seen.
So here's to you, you exceptional X-Gamers with the 10 gnarliest skateboard wipeouts yet.
The worst thing about this guy's nutshot is that he had time to think about it. He barely made it to the railing before he went flying. The whole time he had think, "must clear the rail...my clear the rail....my clear the....&%$*!!!"
Unfortunately for this guy, his heady skater afro didn't substitute for a helmet. The secondary head slam on the pavement didn't help. Yea, you need a hospital but not until after your friends pick your brain up off the pavement.
This guy in the green shirt darn near drew up a blueprint for this jump before actually attempting it. When he did, his arm snapped faster than a drunk guy eating chicken wings.
In one fell swoop, literally, this teenager made sure he wasn't going to walk again for a good six to nine months.
This kid thought he made a successful bail when his trick broke down. What he did not consider was that his board would have the last say. Ouch.
I wonder when this guy realized something horribly, horribly wrong was about to happen. Was it when he gained too much speed? Or fell into the classic wobble? When his head hit the pavement? Or when it hit the curb?
The helmet popping off couldn't have been a good thing either.
Annnnd brace for impact! I think they found this guy's nuts somewhere in his rib cage....
But seriously, this guy was asking for trouble jumping off a wall with a pole four feet in front of him.
As I said, harder, higher, faster...Jake Brown famously paid the price during his memorable X Games crash. It's really amazing he ever got up.
I didn't know what to call this slide except the first thing that came to mind. Even the famous Dr. James Andrews who repaired so many pitchers' elbows couldn't help this poor guy.
Yep buddy, that's your foot and hip in a place where it shouldn't be so easy to look at them. And oh yea, don't forget your left arm either.
