Mis-Edgeucated: WWE SmackDown! Rebound

Ron JohnsonJul 11, 2008

I go away for almost a week, and all of a sudden, everything's gone hazy? Last time I remember, Edge found his balls. Tonight, we saw just how cunning the Rated R Superstar could be.

Here's the aftermath of tonight's Friday Night SmackDown!

Show opens with highlights from last week's tumultuous series of unfortunate events for The Rated R Superstar.

Pro-Wrestling NOAH - GREAT MUTA FINAL "BYE-BYE"

Following the highlights, Edge makes his way to the ring to discuss his actions from last Friday night. He goes on to say that he stands by his decision to call off the wedding. He then goes on to say that Vickie didn't deserve him, and at the Bash, he will prove everyone wrong by beating Triple H for the WWE Championship...on his own.

Before he could continue, his scorned ex comes out and informs him that he will fight later tonight...against The Big Show...in a No Disqualification Match!

First Bout: Shelton Benjamin defeats Matt Hardy

Hardy has early control until a cheap tactic allows Benjamin to gain the advantage. Hardy fights out of a neck vise and lands and elbow drop followed by a punch to the gut. After the turnbuckle clothesline and bulldog, Shelton recovers long enough to nail the T-Bone Suplex.

As Matt goes for the Twist of Fate, Shelton holds on the ropes. While the ref is trying to control Hardy, Benjamin nails the Golden Touch to get the upset victory that should put him in the thick of the United States Championship race.

In the back, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder are requesting a rematch with Jesse and Festus. After their match is granted, they then console an emotional GM.

Second Bout: Mr. Kennedy defeats Domino

Kennedy keeps control to start off the match as it pours to the outside. Back inside, Domino takes control with a headlock until Kennedy drops him with the Packer Twist Kick. Following the turnbuckle boot, Kennedy gets caught by Domino, but it's short lived as the Green Bay native nails the Mic Check to pick up the win.

After the match, MVP starts talking smack to Kennedy who gets caught with a kick and Samoan Spike from Umaga.

In the back, Chavo is talking to Edge and decides that he will talk to Vickie to settle this war once and for all. Unfortunately for Chavo, his vintage Guerrero ways did not fare well against his aunt, as she puts him in a match later tonight against the WWE Champion Triple H.

Third Bout: Finswoggle defeat The Dirt Sheet

Finlay grabs early control with a set of clotheslines on the champs. Hornswoggle comes in off a cross body followed by a pair of Irish Stunners. Dirt Sheet takes control with a double dropkick. After a series of taunts by Morrison, Hornswoggle catches him with a enzuigiri and tags in his father.

Finlay has control with a Celtic Cross, but gets blindsided by The Miz. As the ref tries to Morrison out of the ring, Finlay nails Miz with the Shillelagh. Then he takes in his son who nails the Tadpole Splash for the upset win. This win definitely puts the Father-Son duo back in the Tag Title picture.

Fourth Bout: Triple H defeats Chavo Guerrero

Triple H has early control with some right hands and a few arm wrenches. Bam Neely makes his presence felt, however, with a leg trip and forearm shot. Chavo takes control off the interference with a sitting abdominal stretch.

The Game recovers out of the submission and knocks Chavo down with a high knee followed by the face-buster. Following a spine-buster, Triple H clocks Neely, counters out of the Three Amigos and nails the Pedigree to pick up the win and more momentum en route to the Great American Bash.

Back from break, it is confirmed that at The Great American Bash, Natalya will face Michelle McCool for the right to become the first ever WWE Divas Champion.

Fifth Bout: Natalya & Maryse defeat Michelle McCool & Cherry

McCool and Maryse start the bout with Michelle nailing a dropkick on a cocky Maryse. After the two exchange tags, Natalya body slams Cherry into the ropes and starts focusing on the injured leg. Despite a great effort from the Sock Hop Dame, the fiery Canadian redhead applies the Sharpshooter and picks up the victory.

Following the match, Natalya attacks Michelle and sends her outside. Following a snap suplex on the ground, Natalya points to the Divas Championship and says, "At the Bash, that's mine."

Sixth Bout: Jesse & Festus defeat Hawkins & Ryder (via countout)

Jesse gets early control with some mudhole stomps in the corner. After the two former Edgeheads double team the shortest of the Southern duo, Jesse manages to tag in Festus who goes on an onslaught spree.

But the duo picked up a trick or two from their former teacher as they jumped off the ring apron and forced the ref to countout so the bell could ring. After they dispatch of Jesse, they double team Festus. Everything's going well until the forgotten partner hits the ring bell allowing his buddy to snap back into action.

Seventh Bout: Vladimir Kozlov defeats Stevie Richards

Richards tries to gain control with a series of kicks, but Vladimir gets the advantage in the corner. Kozlov locks in the body scissors, but Stevie gets out of it and nails the enzuigiri.

But in the corner, Vladimir moves out of the way of the Bronco Buster, drags Richards out by the hair and nails a massive headbutt on the back of the neck to pick up the win and remain undefeated on SmackDown!

In the back, Vickie's wrath is being felt by all the former members of La Familia as they start pointing fingers at whose fault it is. Vickie comes in and tells all of them that if any of them interfere in tonight's main event, they will be fired.

She then goes on to focus more of her fury on her ex-fiancee and tells him that if he doesn't go through with the match, he will be fired as well. After getting his manhood questioned by his former lover, Edge storms out towards the ring for his match with Big Show.

Main Event: Big Show and Edge fight to No Contest

Big Show shows early dominance with body slams and chops as Vickie Guerrero looks on from the entranceway. Show removes the covering from the announcer's table and prepares to slam Edge through it, but the Ultimate Opportunist wiggles out and lands the Spear to slow the pace of the match.

Back on SD!, Show launches Edge into the steel steps as Vickie has moved to ringside to get a closer look. Edge manages to recover and drops the 7-footer with a bulldog on the outside. Back inside the ring, Edge applies a sleeper, but Show awakens and drops a back suplex. As Show goes for the Show Stopper, Edge counters it into a DDT.

Edge then picks up a steel chair and charges the behemoth, but Show punches the chair and knocks him senseless. As Show goes for another Chokeslam, Edge counters with a low blow followed by a shot from the chair. As he prepares for the Conchairto, Edge gets dropped with a Chokeslam. As Show prepares to conduct his own Conchairto, Vickie demands that the ref stop the match and dives onto a fallen Edge.

After the match, Vickie apologizes to Edge, and the Rated R Superstar proposes to her once again. The two swap fluids in the ring and embrace. Looks like the two have reconciled their differences...for now. But did anyone else besides me notice the look in Edge's eyes as SmackDown! went off the air?

Like the album is called, "So Much for the Afterglow." With the Bash in two weeks, what does this reconciliation mean for Triple H's future as WWE Champion?
