Trade rumors are spreading like trans-fat in Kirstie Alley's body about Donovan McNabb being a Raiders. The Raiders have come to a stall because they do not want to give #39 (Cam Thomas, anyone?) to Philly for McNabb. Philidelphia, however, are the real haulters of the trade, as they wouldn't want our best player besides Lechler (Nnamdi) for McNabb and they former Patriot Asante Samuel. Simply put, Oakland wants more in return for McNabb. Philly wants #39, and the only way to give that to them with Oakland still having a 2nd rounder is a three-way trade......with Cleveland.
What they are giving up:
#39 Overall to PHI
CB Nnamdi Asomugha to CLE
LB Thomas Howard to CLE
What they get:
#7 Overall from CLE
#38 Overall from CLE
2011 1st Round Pick from CLE
QB Donovan McNabb from PHI
Breakdown: Oakland wants to dump Nnamdi's contract. He is too much money for Davis apparently, even though he of all deserves it. Cleveland would much rather give up the First Rounder (probably Joe Haden) and a second rounder for a proven CB like Nnamdi. I know defense wins championships, but I think that is what we are going for by trading Nnamdi. Rather than staying with OT 1st Round, DT 2nd Round-- I believe we should use our Cleveland picks to move up and get Suh...and then sit at 8 for Campbell or Williams. Another route would be to do that, but trade down to 18 or so for a 1st and 2nd rounder and take Campbell at 18, with another 2nd rounder in the bag. All good moves. With all these picks at their disposal, Oakland will gladly give a 2nd rounder to Philly for our franchise QB McNabb, who has about 5 seasons in the tank. McNabb will sign long term if we get Suh, Campbell, and others.
Mock Draft (1st 3 Rounds)
Trade #7 and #38 to DET for #2 Overall: Selection is Ndamukong Suh
#8 Overall: Selection is Bruce Campbell or Trent Williams (Whichever is better in Oakland's workout)
#69 Overall: Selection is Patrick Robinson (CB Florida State)
What They Give Up:
QB Donovan McNabb to OAK
TE Cornelius Ingram to CLE
What They Get:
#39 Overall from OAK
#105 Overall from CLE
Just the trade the Eagles wanted...a 2nd rounder higher than 42 for McNabb. They are most likely targeting someone projected right about there. Philly has little interaction with Cleveland. This may work as two different trades, but this would be just an easy way to put it.
Mock Draft for first 3 rounds:
#24 Overall: Charles Brown (OT USC)
#39 Overall: Mike Iuapti (OG Iowa)
#55 Overall: Toby Gerhart (RB Stanford)
#70 Overall: Aaron Hernandez (TE Florida)
What they Give Up:
#7 Overall to OAK
#38 Overall to OAK
2011 1st Round Pick to OAK
#115 Overall to PHI
What they get:
LB Thomas Howard from OAK
CB Nnamdi Asomugha from OAK
TE Cornelius Ingram from PHI
Breakdown: Basically, they give up draft picks for players. The big addition for them is Nnamdi. Nnamdi by himself will make this Cleveland defense GREAT not just good, because they were good before. Howard is a good addition, and they will still have two 3rd rounders, possibly to take Colt McCoy or Tony Pike. Cornelius Ingram is not too shabby, and he won a championship with Chris Leak and Florida. I think this is a good trade, especially because this will turn out being Nnamdi for Suh and a 2011 First Rounder. Not too bad.
Mock Draft (1st 3 rounds)
#71 Overall: Jarrett Brown (QB West Virginia)
#85 Overall: Major Wright (S Florida)
I don't think anyone lost. Philly gets Iuapti for McNabb, Oakland gets Suh for Nnamdi, and Cleveland gets Nnamdi for a pick they were going to use on Joe Haden anyway. Good trade for all involved.
So Cleveland, Oakland, and Philly fans...leave your comments..
MAN I LOVE MOCK DRAFT SEASON!
