Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champ Randy Couture was at Rexall Place Saturday night as a special guest of the Edmonton Rush (he is also the strength coach for the Rush), but the guest of honor was not able to witness a Rush win as the team fell to the Boston Blazers 12-5. Blazers captain Dan Dawson was on fire for the Blazers, Dawson scored 5 goals with 3 of them coming in the first half. Gary Bining also had an excellent game for the Blazers has he had 4 goals and 1 assist.

The Rush, did have a lone bright spot in the form of Andy Secore scoring 4 goals, unfortunately for the Rush, goalie Matt Disher was chased from his net after letting in 9 goals before being replaced for Brandon Atherton in the 3rd quarter. After the game, I tried to get to Mr. Couture, as he was at the top level of the lower bowl of Rexall after the game, needless to say its not easy to run up a flight of stairs in dress shoes as I nearly tripped a few times, by the time I got to the top level security was already ushering him away and I would have had a better chance of breaking into fort knox using only an old wad of gum and an Archie comic than getting through the security that was by Randy, oh well, hopefully the Rush keep him as the strength coach for many seasons to come and they bring him to town again.

The Rush now have a record of 6 wins and 4 losses on the year and will play their next game vs the Minnesota Swarm on March 27th and the Blazers improve to 6 wins and 5 losses on the year and also play their next game on March 27th vs the Philadelphia Wings.
