Martin Straka to Become Jack-of-all-Trades in Czech Republic

Greg CaggianoSenior Writer IJuly 11, 2008

Although it was announced in late June that Straka would be joining a team in his home country of the Czech Republic, it was made official yesterday as the deal was signed.

Not only did he sign on to be a player, but he will also take the responsibility of being the team's General Manager as well, or at least that's what the website for his team, HC Lasselsberger Plzen, said yesterday.

Straka, a veteran of 954 NHL games had seen his play decline this season with the Rangers but still played hard every night and gave it his all no matter what the score. Although I won't miss him on the roster, I wish him all the best in his new role in his home country.

In those 954 games, Straka recorded 257 goals and 460 assists for 717 career points.
