Brett Favre Asks Packers For Release—Where Will He End Up?

Zach FeinAnalyst IJuly 11, 2008

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Brett Favre asked the Packers for his formal release in a letter received Friday morning.

Mortensen doesn't speculate on the teams that have interest in Favre, but it's likely that the Vikings, Bears and Buccaneers have the most interest in him. The Packers, however, might release Favre only on the condition that Favre does not sign with an NFC North team.

Last week, NFL Network's Adam Schefter suggested the Chiefs, Jets, and Ravens as possible landing spots for Favre, though he did not have any evidence that these teams were interested.

A rumor spread by ProFootballTalk.com stated that Favre's agent said Favre was interested in playing for the Panthers, though Panthers GM Marty Hurney quickly dismissed the idea, saying, "I don't know where these things are coming from."

So readers, I ask: Which team will sign/trade for Favre? Or will he stay retired if the Packers don't keep him?
