It’s that time of the week where we hand out completely fruitless and unfounded accolades.
Before we begin, lets get everyone up to speed. You see, Kansas University’s motto is “Rock Chalk, Jayhawk” – even though very few humans have any idea what that actually means. Furthermore, KU went into the NCAA Tournament as the #1 overall seed….and picking favorites is usually referenced to as “chalk” (presumably something to do with chalkboards, since favorites gain the most checkmarks) .
Prior to the start of the tourney, snappy sports headline writers took note of this concurrence.
When Kansas pissed on themselves Saturday night against the Northern Iowa Panthers, an intrinsic urgency for headline duality arose in headline lairs across the country.
We MUST leverage the “Rock Chalk” motto in a negative light. We must.
Thus, it’s our honor to hand out the Monday Morning Sports Headline award to CBSSports.com, who bucked the trend after KU’s monumental loss…and took it a slightly different route with their Sunday headline.
Take note, aspiring sports headline writers; acronym creativity sits very favorably with our review board.
