New York Rangers: What They're Saying After A Tough Loss

The New York Rangers' season looked bleak yesterday and it was an even more grim situation after they were defeated 2-1 by the very team they're chasing, the Boston Bruins.
The Rangers—71 points—are in 10th place, trailing both the Bruins in eighth place—76 points—and the Atlanta Thrashers in ninth—75 points. Both teams have a game in hand over the Rangers.
Here’s what the blogs is saying after the tough loss:
- Michael Obernauer of the Daily News went with the headline “Buried in Beatown” and also wrote, “The last time it was this quiet in a postgame Ranger dressing room was after Game 7 against Washington last April."
- Assessing the situation Adam Rotter of SNY said, “It’s not looking good.”
- Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants wrote, “Barring some unusual NHL miracle, [the loss against Boston] ends the Rangers’ playoff chase for all intents and purposes .”
Thoughts : The Bruins and Thrashers each have 11 games to play. Let’s just say that out of 22 possible points, they only manage 11, this would give the Bruins 87 points and the Thrashers 86.
The Rangers have 71 points and 10 games left to play which means they would need at least 17 out of a possible 20 points to make the playoffs in this scenario.
Realistically the Rangers need eight or nine wins to make the playoffs.
Impossible? Seems like it.
