Quick Thoughts on the Clippers' Situation

Jake DunnContributor IJuly 10, 2008

Crushing the hopes of Clippers fans, Elton Brand signed a reported $79.8 million contract.

In fact, this is good news for the Clippers. Well, not good news, but they'll be fine without him. Players on the market such as Emeka Okafor and Josh Smith would be a much better fit for L.A.

Eric Gordon is going to be much better than the "experts" say. He wasn't at 100 percent at Indiana but still played great. Imagine being a teenager and picking a school because of the coach and then spending the season waiting for him to be fired and eventually replaced. Tough.

Also, Al Thorton had a very nice rookie season last year and will be even better this year. He will be plenty capable to replace Brand.

The Clippers will be above .500 this year.
