What makes a great offensive tackle prospect? The ideal tackle has the size to match up against NFL defensive linemen. He has to have the strength to go head to head with anyone he will face. He needs the killer instinct to dominate his competition. He has to have the intelligence to play effectively in his scheme. And last but certainly not least, he must have the footwork and agility to keep his quarterback standing tall. Because of all the things he must possess, the offensive tackle position is one that teams covet and constantly look to find an elite player at that spot.

Here is a look at the top offensive tackle prospects in this year's draft.

Russell Okung—Oklahoma State

Russell Okung is widely regarded as the best offensive tackle in this years draft. He possesses ideal size for the position (6'5", 307 lbs.) and plays with great strength. He has the quick feet you look for in a tackle to protect a quarterback's blind side. He plays smart and aggressive, something that cannot be taught. There are virtually no holes in his game and he can easily be expected to go in the first five picks on April 22.

Bruce Campbell—Maryland

Bruce Campbell is, quite simply, a workout warrior. If you drew the perfect offensive tackle prospect it would look like Bruce Campbell. He is built incredibly well and he performs like it. He had without a doubt the best combine performance of any offensive lineman this year and that is sure to turn a few heads. However, he is much more than just a well-built athlete. Campbell possesses the athletic ability to dominate NFL defenders. He has the strength to pancake ends and linebackers at the next level as well as the quickness to keep up with the fastest pass rushers. The downside to him is his more than occasional lapse in technique. He can get into the habit of overextending or getting his pad level too high. If he can fix that then look for him to become a premier left tackle in the NFL.

Anthony Davis—Rutgers

97549981

Anthony Davis is a very large but also very athletic offensive tackle. It's very rare to find someone with his size that can move like he does. Just his quick and fluid feet are enough for him to play left tackle at the next level but he also possesses the size and strength to be a force in the run game. He has great technique using his hands to effectively keep defenders at bay. Unfortunately he has weight problems and has been reportedly weighted in at 370 lbs. at times. If Davis can keep his weight down then he should be an anchor on some lucky team's offensive line.

Charles Brown—USC

91313371

Charles Brown is an underrated prospect who can be a premier left tackle in the NFL. Brown has all the tools to keep even the best NFL pass rushers away from his quarterback. He possesses the agility to keep up with premier speed rushers as well as the hand punch to keep them away. He is a natural knee bender which is hard to teach and helps him get leverage easily. He doesn't play with the nasty demeanor that you look for, but he still plays very effectively.

Bryan Bulaga—Iowa

97550122

Bryan Bulaga is a hard working guy for whom you can have nothing but respect. He plays hard to the whistle and always finishes his blocks. Bulaga is very smart and plays with solid technique. He also get off the ball quickly and fires into his blocks. However, Bulaga consistently struggles against speed rushers and seems to lack the agility to recover against quick defenders. He can be a solid left or right tackle but he lacks the elite talent you look for at the top of the first round.

Trent Williams—Oklahoma

91384190

Trent Williams is a big and strong tackle that no defender looks forward to facing. He gets into position quickly and punishes opponents when run blocking. His killer instinct that he plays with and consistent ability to finish blocks will catch the attention of many teams. He displays decent but not great footwork and agility in pass protection. He will probably struggle against speedy pass rushers at the next level. Williams may be better suited to play right tackle in the NFL.
