Erin Andrews Peephole Video Stalker Sentenced
The story behind the release of the Erin Andrews Stalker Video has finally come to an end.
The stalker of ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for following Andrews and released a nude video of her.
Andrews, who returned to work following a brief leave of absence, can take another step in settling what was no doubt a scary and invasive time in her life.
With the sentencing of Andrews' stalker came revelations of numerous sordid details about the stalking that went on much longer than anyone anticipated.
Scary Stalker
During sentencing, 49-year-old Michael David Barrett (why do the wackos always have three names?) admitted to following Andrews for over 18 months in three different hotels in three different states. That is a projected method of behavior that had to freak Andrews out when she found out.
Camera Man
When the video first hit the internet, people wondered just how Barrett made the video possible. Did he drill a hole in the wall? Did he have a snake camera?
Barrett disclosed that he removed the peephole to Andrews' hotel room and used his cell phone to make the 4-minute video.
Jail Bird
Barrett was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in federal prison for his stalking behavior. Barrett will also pay Andrews $7,366 dollars in restitution.
Additionally, the truth came out that Barrett stalked more people than just Andrews. Court documents revealed that Barrett posted another 32 videos to the internet of an additional 16 unknown women.
Career Altered
Andrews, who was in the court room for the sentencing, acknowledged that the personal damage created by the video has left her life and career unalterably different.
"I’m being victimized every day...and I did nothing to deserve it," said Andrews.
The judge presiding over the sentencing reinforced that sentiment, noting that Andrews will always suffer from the video's presence on the internet.
Career Altered Part II
Erin Andrews became a poster girl for sports fans, especially college-aged fans, across the country.
Andrews already received plenty of cat-calls from the stands, but now she enters her college beats under the cloud of her internet video. EA will never be the same.
