To Russia With Love:Ray Emery Off to KHL
Ex- Ottawa Senators goaltender Ray Emery has reportedly signed a deal with Atlant Mytishchi of the new Russian Continental Hockey League. It is said to be a 1-year deal worth 2 million plus bonuses. Maybe this is a time for Ray to reflect on how terrible his NHL career went so far.
To the best of my knowledge, it started in Binghamton as a member of the Senators AHL club. It was reported that he had a poor work ethic, was late and missed practice at times, and was a distraction to the rest of the team in the locker room. Pick up his career last season.
He fell out of favor with the coaching staff and management for being late to practice, poor work ethic, fighting with teammates in practice, etc.etc. Kind of sounds like the same trend repeatedly. When is enough enough? Well that time is now. When Ottawa waived him, this off-season not one GM in the NHL would touch this guy.
So it is off to Russia he goes. Ray had most of the hockey tools needed to be a successful NHL player. However, his head got in the way of accomplishing that goal. With NHL numbers like 134 games played 71 wins 30 losses Gaa 2.71 and a save percentage of .907 One would tend to think the sky could be the limit for a young star.
However, Ray found a way to run his career into the toilet. If I were a Senators fan, I would send a giant thank you card attached to Ray's carry on bag saying
