The Milwaukee Brewers pulled off a remarkable trade before the All-Star Break. They got the Cleveland Indians' former Cy Young award winner C.C. Sabathia. To give Milwaukee a 1-2 punch with Brewers ace Ben Sheets.
CC Sabathia won his first game with Milwaukee on Tuesday July ninth. He went six innings throwing 109 pitches issuing five walks with five strikeouts. He was solid his first time out.
C.C. wants to drop the periods in his name. He wants to be known as "CC". It's a new start for the 27-year-old. Having a great year last year although blowing two opportunities in the postseason, He went 6-8 with 3.42 ERA with the Indians.
In acquiring the right-hander, the Brewers sent four minor leaguers to the Indians, Matt Laponte was one of them, taken seventh overall by the Brewers in 2007 draft. He is a converted first baseman that was playing left-field for the Brewers farm system.
Is the GM done tweaking the roster? The Brewers have three weeks to do something else. The question is will they? It appears to me that the Brewers want to win now and have a legitimate shot at the postseason. Last year the Brewers came two games short of that goal. We'll have to wait and see.
