Major league baseball has been dominated by pitching the last few years and especially last year in 2009. One of the reasons why is because of some young starting pitchers breaking out and having unbelievable seasons . What the scary part is these pitchers haven't entered their prime yet. Here are top 10 starting pitchers in the major leagues.
Winning the Cy in 2008 and dominating the Yankees in the world series put Cliff on this list. Expect him to dominate with a pitcher's park in Safeco Field and the best D behind him.
Dan Haren simply gets the job done. He's not a well known pitcher but he should be considering the numbers he put last year for a terrible offensive team.
Santana is overrated however he still makes the list. He doesn't have the stuff he had in his prime but he still is a quality ace.
Verlander had a bounce back year last year and is a terrific strikeout pitcher. His lack of ERA though is what keeps him from the top 5.
Sabathia is an overrated pitcher but he still deserves to be on this list. He does not deserve all the money he's getting though.
Wainwright had a breakout season last year being an innings eater and collecting 19 wins. Expect for him to have similar numbers next year.
Grienke was the best pitcher last year. The reason why he's not number 1 is because he's not consistent.
Felix could end up number 1 on this list at the end of the year. He just keeps improving and he's only so young.
Roy Halladay didn't have the second best season last year but he still ranks number 2. It's only because he's one of the most consistent players in the game.
Lincecum is the obvious number 1 choice after his 2 consecutive Cy Youngs. The scary part though is he's only 25.
