The NCAA Tournament is upon us and all of us want to know which tournament games would be the best to look at for. There will be 32 games played Thursday and Friday and we're sure to have plenty of good battles. I will give you the 10 best games to watch during the 2 day span.
The 1st and 2nd days of the NCAA Tournament can be among the best and always seem to have games that go down as classics in the history of the NCAA Tournament. There are games I've listed that have potential to keep people talking for years.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers were likely out of the NCAA Tournament before their Big 10 tournament run. The Gophers knocked off Michigan State and clobbered Purdue before dropping to Ohio State in the Final.
The Xavier Musketeers reign from the Atlantic 10 and always seem to play well in the NCAA tournament. They have another great team with Top 25 talent and may have what it takes to get deep into the tournament.
Both teams are well coached and are tough teams that are going to play with heart. Should be a great game to watch early on Friday afternoon
Fran McCaffrey's Siena Saints are a very dangerous team in the NCAA Tournament. They return 4 of the 5 starters including the nations leader in assists Ronald Moore and a Top 5 rebounder in Ryan Rossiter from the 2009 team. Siena has won as a 13 seed in 2008 knocking off Vanderbilt, and has defeated a Big 10 team as the underdog last year knocking off Ohio State in a thriller.
The Purdue Boilermakers went out with a thud in the Big 10 tournament getting clobbered by Minnesota trailing by as much as 31 in that game and showed just how vulnerable and poor offensively they can be without Robbie Hummel.
The Moore's at PG Ronald Moore and Purdue's Etwaun Moore provide a good battle and this is a potential upset that could come down to the wire.
Another good Friday Afternoon showdown.
A battle between two talented teams down in Jacksonville. One being the Louisville Cardinals, who've been to two straight Elite 8's and are coached by Hall Of Famer Rick Pitino. A powerhouse from the Big East, they will face off against the Pac-10 regular season Champion California Bears.
Cal boasts solid guards in Jerome Randle and Patrick Christopher to go against Louisville and Rick Pitino's patented press. Louisville carries the strong inside game with Terrence Jennings and Samardo Samuels.
This is a matchup worth watching Late Friday Night
A classic 12-5 battle between two teams capable of winning some NCAA Tournament games.
Both teams have combined for only 9 losses on the season. The Ivy League Champions finished the season red hot as well as the Atlantic 10 conference tournament champions Temple.
Both are strong defensive teams that can shoot, rebound, and get after it.
A lot of people and many experts like this as an upset pick, with just as many experts who think Temple can go far in this tournament.
Going to be one that has many interested early Friday afternoon.
Both of these teams went out to bottom feeding teams in their conference tournaments in their 1st games.
Both of these teams have been ranked in the Top 25 at points this season but have been inconsistent and erratic at times.
Both have talent and are evenly matched up. This game could go either way and which is very unpredictable in terms of the pace that the game could be played.
Mike Anderson's 40 minutes of hell against Clemson's Trevor Booker is going to be a dandy on Friday Afternoon.
Missouri made a run to the Elite 8 last season and will try to repeat that this year, and Clemson will try to erase their NCAA tournament woes losing in the 1st Round the past 2 seasons
The Washington Huskies went on a run to erase any bubble questions by becoming the Pac-10 Tournament champions. The Marquette Golden Eagles are a Big East power, which made it to the Big East Semifinals in the Big East tournament and finished the season strong.
Washington has some talent in undersized 5 foot 8 PG Isiah Thomas and with versatile foward Quincy Pondexter.
Washington will have trouble defending Marquette's foward Lazar Hayward who can do it all for the Golden Eagles.
Marquette won 7 Big East games by less than 10 points and has only lost 1 game by more than 10 points this year. This is one that definitely could come down to the wire against a talented Washington team Thursday Night.
This is the 1st time these schools met since the 2004 Final Four in a national semifinal game. A fond memory for Georgia Tech fans as Will Bynum won that game on a layup driving to the basket with 1.1 seconds left on the clock as pictured above. Oklahoma State fans are wondering if they can get some measure of revenge on the Yellow Jackets this year.
Georgia Tech who was struggling and on the bubble went on a run to knock off defending champion North Carolina, ACC co-champ Maryland, and NC State to make the ACC Final, fighting to the end before losing to Duke, after being inconsistent most of the year.
Oklahoma State has wins over #1 Kansas on their resume and will play with fire after getting embarrassed by Kansas State in the Big 12 tournament.
The Jackets boast an NBA talented frontline with Gani Lawal and Derrick Favors and have a talented Guard on the outside in Iman Shumpert.
Oklahoma State will bring Big 12 player of the year James Anderson with them into this game in a battle between 2 teams with potential NBA Draft Picks.
This game will be played in Milwaukee Friday Night, ironically the same place Georgia Tech started their run to the 2004 Final Four(where they beat Oklahoma State) in this same building.
Both Northern Iowa and UNLV are mid-majors who have been ranked in the Top 25 at some point this year.
Northern Iowa is a suffocating defensive team that set teams on 7+ minute scoring droughts in the Missouri Valley tournament and nationally has one of the best defenses in all of College Basketball.
This UNLV squad picked up some great wins this season and was a big reason why the Mountain West was so strong.
This battle between two quality mid majors on Thursday night will be one that is going to be well played and highly contested
This is the 1st time since the 2007 NCAA Tournament when Florida won their 2nd consecutive National Championship, that they are in the Field of 65.
It won't be easy going against the Cougars of Bringham Young, who finished 2nd in Mountian West and were in the Top 25 week after week.
BYU's Guard Jimmer Friddette averaging 21.7 PPG and being one of the nation's leading scorers, is the player to look out for here.
The Gators will try to restore themselves in the NCAA tournament whille BYU will try to end their streak of 1st Round losses.
This is the 1st game to tip off the NCAA Tournament this year and a great one to get March Madness started
Texas is similar to Wake Forest of last year. After the way Texas faltered down the stretch it's hard to believe that they were #1 in the nation at one point during the season.
Two schools used to winning will get to face each other in a 1st Round match-up in New Orleans late Thursday Night.
Both teams have talent and have been inconsistent, but meet in the NCAA tournament with similar playing styles
The match-up to watch here is Wake Forest's Al Farouq Aminu.vs. Texas' Damion James at Foward.
This is the best game of this 1st Round, in my opinion.
