First things first thank you for Senior years because the guy in the picture Ol Roy is " coaching " but his class of seniors basically ruined the 100th year celebration everyone expected this year in Chapel Hill.

Now to the why of this year. Point one would have to be the point guard Larry Drew II. When I read his quote in The N and O yesterday I almost threw up, guess it was a good thing I had not eaten yet. First, to call the people who paid for his education through his scholarship spoiled really explains a lot about why what happened this year happened. He is the spoiled one because he actually got to watch a real point guard last year in Ty " The Bullet " Lawson. Then he realized how bad he really was when he got his chance to quote, unquote run the show. If the rumors are true and the lord is willing he will be at Pepperdine next year getting schooled by some third rate reject from some third rate West Coast school. Second, it is easy to understand the reason why Deon Thompson was a good player last year was because Tyler Hansbrough drew double and triple teams all year long. Now I am not a rocket scientist but that meant he was open a majority of the time and picked up easy junk baskets which once covered this year did not fall due to his lack of heart, ability, and overall lack of talent. The third point is simple yes there were injuries and injuries and injuries but other teams had them too and they are still playing and winning in there respective conference tournaments but our talent level just did not allow it.

Now to the positives of which there were only a few so this should not take long. John Henson is going to be a monster barring an exodus to the NBA ( NOTE TO JOHN HENSON: Do not listen to Ed Davis whom was not listed above but before his wrist injury was as big a disappointment as Deon and Marcus Ginyard were ). Along with that we do still have what I feel is the best coach in the game when the talent is at his fingers and it appears that it will be returning next year in the form of Freshman Bullock, Marshall, and the highly touted Harrison Barnes so kudos Ol Roy I still behind you because the facts are yes you can coach and teach but if the talent is not there you can only do so much.

Leslie McDonald, Dexter Strickland, Tyler Zeller, Will Graves, and Henson make up for a formidable team by themselves next year as long as Graves is hitting from outside and the big men do there thing down low. The two guards are probably going to have to revert to back up roles when Bullock and Marshall arrive along with Henson and Barnes learning to share time evenly and work as a team.

Lord help us that this year was only an anomly however, only time will tell and for now we have Carolina Baseball and I cannot believe I am saying this but football is only less than six months away. Butch does not have to worry about a ring ceremony during the first home game this season so maybe that will make the players there this year and the ones coming in next year see just how special that " One Shining Moment " is and they will recapture the Tar Heel magic next year.

Whether there is a NIT birth waiting tonight or not there is a lot of work to do to undo what happened this year. We are fortunate enough to have the people to do this I fully believe. Let's show everyone what we can be Roy.

Go Heels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
