Now that the shock over the Cleveland Browns signing a 35-year-old quarterback to a two-year deal has begun to fade, let's look at the Browns draft strategy in the wake of this decision.

To say Jake Delhomme is going to be a transitional quarterback would be the understatement of the year.

Let's also address the elephant in the room in Tim Tebow, Hello Tim!

With Delhomme most likely already pencilled in as the Browns starter, Team President Mike Holmgren now can take a quarterback higher in the draft and put him behind a solid veteran.

Delhomme, despite his 2009 season, has had a pretty good career, so he'll be a good mentor to whomever Holmgren and General Manager Tom Heckert decide to draft. That's Delhomme's upside in this situation.

Plus, if the Browns wait until the second or third round to take a quarterback, there's less pressure to get the guy on the field immediately.

Here's a look at who the Browns may take, and when, in this year's draft.

Tim Tebow

97545271

Tim Tebow has been one of the largest lightning rods going into this year's draft. His merits and drawbacks have been debated endlessly, so there's no point in rehashing them here.

Tebow most likely still will be available in the second round and the Browns still could pick up at least one more second round pick with five of their restricted free agents still unsigned.

If Holmgren thinks Delhomme will give them two years to develop Tebow, then this pick becomes a no-brainer. Tebow has a lot of up-side with his athleticism.

His mechanics are what is driving down his draft stock, but if you've got two years to work on them, then what's the big deal? It's not like the Browns haven't cast aside top round draft picks before after a few years.

On a side note, Holmgren did make some comments at the Combine, suggesting he had zero interest in drafting Tebow. Word to the wise, NEVER believe anything a football executive says at the Combine.

He could be telling the truth, then again, he may not.

If the Browns take Tebow in the third round, then there's no argument that should be raised. Since the team also has Seneca Wallace, getting Tebow at the third round price would be a bargain and make it easier on Tebow to develop.

Plus, if he washes out, it's a third round pick.

Colt McCoy

97180468

Colt McCoy is an enigma. He's had a very good college career, but he has been knocked for being "fragile," and is tagged for not making good reads.

McCoy is tough player, though, and with his draft stock falling on a lot of recent mocks, McCoy is another option with an additional second round pick, should it happen.

If not, expect the Browns to target him in the third round. If McCoy does end up falling to where the prognosticators think he will go, he's not a bad third round pick up.

Jarrett Brown

95625928

Jarrett Brown had an impressive showing at the Combine and probably lifted his draft stock to at least a third round pick.

He's got great size, 6'2", 224 lbs., and he's shown an ability to get the ball down the field.

Brown is a dark horse going into the draft who most likely will end up fulfilling the hopes of whatever team decides to take him.

If the Browns decide to reach for him in the second round, the only refrain will be, "In Holmgren We Trust."

Don't let us down.

Dan LeFevour

83194402

Dan LeFevour impressed a lot of people with his play this past season, but he impressed no one by refusing to participate in throwing drills at the Combine.

However, if he's as good as he is projected to be, that could make him a steal in the second round. His accuracy is above average, which makes him desirable going into the draft.

LeFevour still looks best as a third round pick, it would raise some serious, David Veikune-esque, questions if the Browns took him in the second.

Tony Pike

97545188

Tony Pike is another solid third round selection the Browns could make. His Pro Day went well and 26 teams showed up to look at him.

Right now he's purely projected as a backup, but if you're going to wait two years to turn the reigns over, it's not a bad investment. He's good enough that his potential makes him a good pick in the third round.

Jevan Snead

91807151

Jevan Snead was a popular third round mock pick for the Cleveland Browns in January.

At 6'3", 219 lbs., he's a lean, mean, passing machine. His downside comes from the 20 INTs he threw last year, but his accuracy at the Combine raised a few eyebrows.

If Snead is taken no higher than the third round, it's not a bad pick. Maybe not a great pick, but nothing to get upset about.

Snead still is a solid pick for the Browns in the third round, and while it may be a reach, not too many people would complain if he's taken with an extra pick in the second round
