Chelsea: FC Twente Sign Rajkovic On Loan

Alan McGuinnessSenior Analyst IJuly 9, 2008

Steve McClaren has made his first signing as FC Twente manager, taking young Chelsea central defender Slobodan Rajkovic on a year long loan.

"Chelsea have already seen his qualities and signed him. I saw him play with PSV in the past season against Fiorentina in the UEFA Cup," McClaren said.

"When we got the chance to add him to our group we immediately did so. Many clubs wanted his signature. I am pleased we have been able to add a young player with his qualities to our squad - he can play in several positions in defence," he went on to add.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, making 13 appearances. Rajkovic has been a Chelsea player since 2005, when they are reported to have spent £3.5 million pounds to secure his signature.
