Why are the patriots so content on not "upgrading" ?

First of all the patriots have done a good job of making sure that key players are staying here , but at what cost ? Did signing Vince Wilfork keep them from getting Peppers or an attempt to pick up say Merriman or big time playmaker ? Not sure but I like Wilfork. Or did getting David Patten fill the gap at wide reciever? No way, I want to see them pick up a reciever to fill the gap Moss will leave after this year if they dont resign him. why not T.O. , Miles Austin , A.Boldin , even Vincent Jackson ? Its like this keeping players like Wilfork , Bodden , Faulk , Neal , and Banta-Cain will get you right back where you where .What is so good about the linebacker M. Murrell ? Thats not going to cut it wheres the upgrade. Maybe the patriots are counting on players like Tryone McKenzie , Shawn Crable , or Brandon Tate to step up . Or maybe there is a ton of players that will upgrade the pats in the draft. The patriots are holding a full house that you know of ,but are there some cards up their sleeve to make a royal flush ? I wont call the bluff.                 ATOM D
