Browns GM confirmed today that the Browns have signed Troy Smith to a three-year contract worth $8 million, including $2.5 million in guaranteed money. The Ravens, who did not meet the Browns offer sheet for Smith, will receive the Browns fourth round draft choice in this years draft.

Smith, a native of Cleveland, has been brought in by the new Browns brass in Berea, to add a new wrinkle to the offense. Browns President Mike Holmgren stated, "Troy Smith is a tremendous athlete who can make all the throws and also has the mobility to do some special things outside the pocket."

One source inside the Browns front-office recently leaked that the Browns are planning to invent and implement a new "Tiger Cat" formation. This formation would feature a backfield with Josh Cribbs, Seneca Wallace, and Troy Smith.

All three athletes have experience at quarterback and the ability to run with the football.

The same source also revealed that the Browns may be looking to draft either Tim Tebow or Jarrett Brown in April's NFL Draft. If they are successful, they plan to create the "Liger Cat" offense with four mobile quarterbacks in the backfield at the same time.

Coach Eric Mangini refused to officially comment on the situation, but did speculate that the "Liger" offense would probably be "better than anything we put on the field last year."
