Before I start, I want to apologise to Notre Dame fans out there who read my blog.

I don't dislike your school - I've never been there. My buddy Paul is a massive Notre Dame fan. He loves the college, the grounds, and the feeling as you go into the stadium. He thinks the kids are pretty great - and almost every kid I've met from Notre Dame (apart from the twats on their year abroad in London) - have been nothing but courteous to me.

The fans themselves (those who don't actually go there, it seems) seem to act as though just because they're Catholic, Notre Dame has the God-given (excuse the pun) to be ranked in the Top 10 year in, year out.

The NBC deal, which gives an exclusivity to the school that no other school has ever seen, is a joke. Notre Dame should play in the Big East or the Big Ten. Sure, the value of the deal might plummet, but year in, year out respectability? They've got it made! They can still play USC, and they'll still have annual games against Michigan and Michigan State.

In the Montana days, Notre Dame football was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Brady Quinn proved for a couple of years that his team could definitely compete with the best, albeit with a wonderful schedule in the 2006 season. Until they came across USC and LSU late in the 2006-7 season, and it was proven that maybe the Irish weren't so good.

2008 should be a changing year - I'm sure that Charlie Weis will lose a few pounds jumping up and down for joy this season as the Irish better more than three teams on their schedule. 2009 will see the team be better. But that's about it.

Rant Over.

Having said that, I couldn't help but spot this:
