I am going to keep this short and sweet, because I am embarrassed to be a Warriors fan at the moment. I have been and will always be a Warriors fan, but right now what the **** is Chris Mullin and the front office doing!?
First, you piss Baron off and he leaves for LA. Okay, reasonable but stupid on our (Chris Mullin) part.
Then, you have yet to give Ellis a contract, what can possibly be the hold up?
Then, you let Pietrus sign with the Magic. WHY? He was our best on-ball defender, and was the most athletic person on the team.
Then, the worst news of the off season, signing Corey Maggette from the Clippers. What is Chris Mullin thinking? Maggette does not fit in our system. He takes 10 free throws a game, and likes a half court set.
After missing out on Garnett last summer, it seems that Chris Mullin has lost his mind and is in a state of panic. Now, look for Ellis to hit the road, because unless the Warriors sign a big name who can actually help us next season, Ellis will be gone.
Finally, every team in the West has gotten better this off season, either in the trade or in free agency. But who is the only team that has gone backwards? Yup, your Golden State Warriors.
With the current roster and the difficulty in the West this year I expect the Warriors to finish 12th or 13th in the West, and not even sniff the playoffs, and that KILLS me to say.
CHRIS MULLIN! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE DIRTY AIR IN CALIFORNIA, AND MAKE A MOVE. SHOW SOME B*LLS AND GET JACKSON SOME PEOPLE TO PLAY WITH!!!!

Interesting, but I don't think you back up yo points at all, which makes your arguments a bit flawed. Warriors are not the worst team this off-season, the Clips just got blew off with Mag signing with us and Brand flying over to Philly.
To tell you the truth, I love how Boom Dizzle is feelin right now!!

Maggette is a athletic player how can play up and down with the warriors, he's going to thrive in nelly's system. If Chris Mullin doesn't get the deal done with Ellis then I would agree with the huge step back, but you're jumping the gun. I know Baron brought us from oblivion to relevance, but HE was the one that turned his back on us. HE was the one that set this thing up with HIS former buddy Brand. And HE is getting exactly what HE deserves down in LA. Sign Ellis, sign Bidrins add Maggette, keep Captain Jack, get rid of the forgetfully inconsistent Pietrus and move towards the future with your youth. Hell see if you can still pick up one of the Atalanta Josh's. Get off of Baron's jock and open up your eyes.

Maggette is better on the run than in half-court. He specializes in big dunks. Losing Pietrus is not that bad since he was not consistent nor was he much of a team player (disappeared near the end of the season because of an "injury").

I don't think Maggette is "that great" either. However, I do think the fact that he gets to the line a lot is a big plus. Sometimes, the Warriors resorted to belting out contested threes last year, and it's definitely more effective to drive through the lane and score and/or get fouled, as Maggette has shown aptitude to do.
As for Baron-- I think any team (other than the Clippers) would balk at signing him to $13+ million per year for 5 years (when he ends up turning 34), not just the Warriors.
My guess is that the hold-up with Ellis is that he is getting greedy with Baron's departure. He's not worth more than $10-11 million/year (YET) IMHO. We don't know what their negotiations are at this point, but we do know they've committed to re-signing him.
Lastly, Pietrus. Let him walk. The guy had flashes of brilliance, but brought just as many headaches. He makes a lot of boneheaded moves (stepping out of bounds, turning the ball over, etc.). True, he may turn out to be a solid player in the league (as many players do, after leaving the W's), but he wasn't that big a help to us either in the +/- column, for what he was asking for.
I'm not giving Mullin a free pass, but there is at least some logic to his reasoning. I too hope that there is something else left in the tank for them to pleasantly surprise us with, but if they do re-sign Biedrins and Ellis, our team will be OK. Not a contender, mind you, but decent and possibly something to build on.
I don't want them to waste cap space for "junk" and I question the Maggette signing a bit, but other than that, I think they've been fairly sound with their decisions on Davis, Pietrus, etc. from "what we know." I guess our expectations are set lower than ever though, so there is that. :)

Eric, you need to take a deep breath. Why would we lose Monta? We have the right to match any offer. If you're going to post to the interwebz, you might want to think your post through a bit more than this, because this talk of losing Monta is straight up nonsense.
I get it, you love Baron. He's fun to watch. I will miss his Shatner-esque swagger. But you're only remembering the good parts. Baron stops no one on defense. No one. Well, maybe if Alba is there he'll move his feet on D a little. But for the most part, he's just not a very quick point guard. And the shots he takes, yikes! He jacked up 6.4 3's per game last year, but only makes 33 percent of them. And Baron takes 5 free throws a game... not much for a supposed star. That is a formula for losing. Maggette on the other hand makes 38.4 percent of his threes, and goes to the line 9.7 times per game. We could have used that foul drawing ability last season! I think we traded up. No, he's not a superstar like Baron, in the sense that he can't get Owen Wilson to come to the W's games. That is not what matters!
Mark my words: Dubs will make the play-offs next year, Clips will not. I will be back next spring to gloat about how right I was and how wrong you are. Don't forget to check back, ok?

Dude, you are absolutely RIGHT ON THE MONEY $$$! Baron was the MVP of the team. He wins games. He IS THE GUY. we had a great season 2 years ago and got bullied by the Jazz. We needed size, rebounding, shot blocking...AKA 2 or three power forward--that is ALL WE EVER NEEDED. AND we had Jason Richardson as a blue chip piece to pick up a player we needed. We traded him for nothing. We got a skinny guy we never played AKA Brandon Wright. When you get within a couple games of the West Finals and you need a few position players you don't start "buliding" for the future. DUH. What is wrong with all these people. Since the amazing playoff run we lost J-Rich and got nothing then lost Baron and got nothing. And we picked up a skinny small forward in the draft being Randolph--who needs that? We had Josh powell and even Ike Diogu at one point btw too. DUH.
And on top of it, we go spend bananas money on Maggette. Now let me see, we have Captain Jack, Harrington, Anthony Randoplh, and now Maggette. Why? And what are we going to do without a point guard? And why are we rebuilding when we were a few plyers away from winning the championship? Mullin is weak. Nelson needs to go. He is a one-trick-pony.
Weak
Weak
Weak
So Weak
Baron was the best guy they had to try and win a championship and Nelson alienated him at the end of the season by benching him in a pivotal game with the playoffs on the line.
Wack
