I support the Dallas Cowboys as any fan would expect. I cheer for them, get angry when they don't do well, and I try not to be so blind that I don't see their faults.
I know that with the Cowboys, you either hate them or love them. I don't care how you like my team! If you like them, that's cool. Love them, that's just great. You hate them, so be it! It is your choice. More power to you!
Cowboys fans have been called arrogant. Well, guess what? Each team has arrogant fans as well. It's funny, when they tell me Cowboys fans are arrogant, they seem to be more arrogant than me when expressing that!
What bothers me is that there are fans who want to hate more than they want to support their own team. If you care so much about your team, then spend more time bragging about what is so good about your team.
I am not going to bash anyone on what team you support. I may give my friends a hard time, but it is all in fun.
I have never been a trash talker despite my dislike for the Eagles, Giants, and Redskins. I attempt to be respectful to all fans. I do not wish harm on any player or fan.
It is great being a fan of the NFL and being a fan of the team you support. Spend more time bragging about your team and spend less bashing others.
Hey, Giants. Congrats on your Super Bowl win, and at least someone in the NFC East brought it back. But I have to tell you, the Cowboys will be ready this time. I am sure the Eagles and Redskins will be prepared as well.

What bothers me is you are so parochial. The Cowboys ever string three losing seasons in a row? Until they do Detroit Lion fans do not need your arrogant ignorance.
When the Patriots were going 2-14, should I watch them religiously? Did I insist that Tom Owen was a QB that struck fear into the hearts of the NFL more than Aikman? Should I insist that Sam "Bam" Cunningham was a better running back than Larry Czonka?
No. Why? Because I'm not a moron. If the product is pathetic I feel no need to give the owners my time or money. Anyone who goes to a game with a paper bag over their head still PAID FOR TICKETS. Why should an owner take the time and effort to build a good team IF MORONS SUPPORT IT ANYWAY?
I still followed them on Monday morning. On Sunday afternoon I did this thing called “life” instead of watching the snag defeat from the jaws of victory.
In New England we have the Bruins. Bruins fans were ignorantly loyal. They regularly paid to see the Bruins lose SINCE BOBBY ORR. If one go to the games with a dog mask or a pig nose anyway THERE IS NO REASON YOUR TEAM SHOULD GET BETTER.
Get a clue, in the end it is a business that’s why they are called PROFESSIONAL sports.
Don't take my word for it being a business. Ask Art Modell, Irsay, Al Davis, Bill Bidwell, or the owners of the Rams and Houston Oilers.

Yes, in fact when they first started 5 losing seasons. From 2000-2002 3 losing seasons. I supported them when they were losing, but that has nothing to do with what I posted. What I posted is about fans hatred towards other teams.
I am not being arrogant in my post. I am writing about being a fan of an NFL team. Whether you feel if they are losing and you shouldn't support it is up to you.

I enjoy supporting my team, for they've had the good years, and the bad. Similar in nature, the Raiders came into the league, the same year as the cowboys.
As well, both teams are number 1 and 2 on the most wins in that time period.
Cowboys, thanks to the Raiders' recent slump, have 14 more wins, overall, since 1960.
There's also the slight lead in winning percentage.
Although, the Raiders have 3 rings, against two losses, the Cowboys have 5 rings, losing 3.
So, I can say both teams have done well, in the NFL.
Although....Still say the best coach, was Landry....long history, went with him.

I just hate when someone hates your team but can't give reasons why, because they don't know any. These people get on my nerves so much. they brag about their team but are extremely vague about it because like I said before, they don't know enough about sports to give reasons.

Quite true, I have asked someone before about the Cowboys, and told me they just hate them. There has to be some reason!!

It is inevitable that fans with less than successful teams will HATE on the teams that are constantly winning and/or in the news. As a Cowboys fan living in DC I deal with irrational hate all the time. It is what it is... If the Redskins beat the Boys you hear how it is the only game that matters all year to a skins fan, but if the Skins lose--it doesn't matter, 'we are focused on next week.'
I welcome people to hate on the Boys, when they know what they are talking about...
A real fan knows the best part of following a team is sticking through all the bad seasons because it makes the Championships that much better, the first year I watched the Boys they won 1 game (against the Redskins!!!)
'Fair Weather Fans' are NOT fans but casual observers, ask a Red Sox's fan why it was so important when they finally won a WS that they came back from 3-0 to beat the Yankees in the ALCS...

A fan of a less than successful team doesn't necessarily hate on the teams that win, but it doesn't mean that we necessarily like them either. I am an Eagles fan living in Atlanta, which is ok since there are very few real Falcon's fans. I just wanted to comment that I am indeed a Cowboys hater, primarily because they are division rivals. Obviously the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry has been a big part of the lives of true fans of either of these teams. What I find the most irritating are the "fans" that claim loyalty to a team that A) Have no connection to the team or city (primarily bandwagoners) B) "Fans" that can't name any player on the offensive or defensive line and doesn't even know who the coaches are C) "Fans" that sport the "in" jersey but yet know nothing about the player they have on their back. Of course, some could make the arguement that an exception could be made in certain situations- for example, my girlfriend is in possession of my Brian Westbrook jersey however knows only that he is #36, a running back, and had the most yards from scrimmage in the league last year (because I've drilled it into her). In this situation, I am ok with the jersey-wearer not being informed however these girls (or guys in some rare instances) should not call themselves fans until they have demonstrated knowledge of the game, the position of the player and the name of his back-up, the college the player attended, what round they went in the draft (or from what team they were aquired from in free agency), and the ability to pick a buffalo wing clean.

"Have no connection to the team or city (primarily bandwagoners)"
How does this make anyone a bandwagon fan? I am from Kansas, but have followed the Cowboys since I have been a kid. I have been a diehard fan and never ever jumped ship??? Even when they had a few losing seasons.
Just because you are not from that city or state does not make you a bandwagon fan. A bandwagon fan is someone jumps on the bandwagon when that team is successful, but is the first to jump off when they are not!
I am in the Air Force, do I have to support the team of the city or state that I move to every 3 years? I eventually in 4 months will retire down to Texas.
Every city and/or state don't have an NFL team. So they can't be a fan of an NFL team? Some states have 3 teams in the state, so they have to support each team in the state?
If you like a team and support them, go for it! Just face it, sometimes each person starts out probably as a bandwagon fan, but they will find the allegiance to a team and stick with them.

Let me backtrack some, I know you wrote primarily bandwagoners in your comment and I don't think you were implying that a bandwagon fan is someone that is not connected to that city or state.
I have heard on another board where someone was implying that very thing. So, if I jumped the gun in thinking that, I do apologize and meant nothing disrespectful to you personally.
It's amazing what a long day at work can do!!

I have to agree that as a real NFL fan it is annoying when people who have little clue try to argue or say outrageous things, and for the record I hate all other NFC East teams as well...
I do have to argue on the bandwagon fan qualities,
I have been a Cowboys fan since I started watching football in 1989-1990, when I was 5 or 6. The first season I watched/followed they were 1-15. I liked E.Smith at Florida and followed him to Dallas. So that makes me a bandwagon fan? Over 20 years of loyalty = a real fan, no matter where you live. I would admit that the Cowboys seem to have more out of town fans than any other team...
I think a bandwagon fan is someone who never follows a team, local or otherwise, suddenly has two window flags on their cars after they win the Super Bowl. A real fan follows a team in hard times and championship runs. I myself am skeptical when someone claims to be a fan of an out of town team, so maybe a fan of an out of town team needs to prove their resume more so than a guy who follows all local teams.
I am a die hard Orioles fan and they have won the division 2 times since I started watching (over 20 years) Now I live less than 10 minutes from DC, but I do not claim to be a Nats fan, I am loyal to my perpetually bad team.
As long as there is sports there will be 'fans' who have a new team every other year...
