The 1st Masters 1000 event of the year gets underway this week, in Indian Wells AND Australia’s former World Number 1 Lleyton Hewitt , is a two time champion at the event. In 2002 Hewitt defeated the legendary American Pete Sampras in the Semi Finals 6-2 6-4, it would be the last time that the duo met on the ATP Tour. In the Final Hewitt thrashed the British Number 1 Tim Henman 6-1 6-2 to win the title in Indian Wells for the 1st time in his career. Hewitt back that up by reaching the final again the following year where he managed to hammer the 3 time French Open Champion Gustavo Kuerten of Brazil 6-1 6-1. Lleyton Hewitt did reach the final again in 2005 but he was beaten in straight sets by the world number 1 Roger Federer. Hewitt will be hoping to have a good run at Indian Wells against this year.
