This article is about those matches occurring at a WrestleMania which should have been on a different Pay Per View, RAW, Heat, Superstars, or a house show.
These were garbage time matches and even a few main events which did not make sense or a better match was available.
Some matches were Main Events and others were just plain stupid, but I will try and find a suitable replacement.
The team of Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff vs. Hulk Hogan and Mr. T was a terrible match and belonged on Saturday Night's Main Event.
The show should have concluded with Hulk Hogan vs. Roddy Piper.
For the second year in a row, Piper vs. T had no business being on the granddaddy of them all.
Paul Orndorff was a good guy from the last year's Main Event, so a Piper vs. Orndorff would have been a better choice.
Two matches stand out which should have been changed. Bundy and his midgets vs. Hillbilly Jim and his midgets was a waste of time.
The six-man with The Hart Foundation and Davis vs. The Bulldogs and Santana.
Ok, lets make the Foundation take on the Bulldogs, then replace the Bundy fiasco with the singles match of Santana vs. Davis or at least give Bundy a decent match.
The tournament was a good idea. Too bad Ted DiBiase did not win the strap.
The battle royal was a waste of time and energy. A few of the battle royal participants, such as Bret Hart and Harley Race, could have been added to the tournament. The young Bret Hart vs. the aging Harley Race could have been a clinic in wrestling.
Red Rooster vs. Bobby Heenan could have been settled on a Wrestling Challenge show.
Get rid of that match and match up The Hart Foundation vs. Arn and Tully. These two could have put on a clinic in tag team wrestling.
Hogan and Warrior put on a really good match. It is one of the more underrated matches in history. The buildup to these two battling was excellent.
Randy Savage and Sherri vs. Big Dust and Sapphire should have been a singles bout between Savage and Rhodes. To add more intrigue, make the match a gimmick match like a bull rope match between the two.
Top to bottom, this entire card with the exception of Warrior vs. Savage was terrible. The buildup to Hogan and Slaughter was in very bad taste by having Slaughter become an Iraqi sympathizer and exploitation of the Gulf War.
The Savage/Warrior match had a good buildup and surprised many by being a good to great match.
The better alternative would have been the rematch between Hogan and Warrior. If Triple Threat matches in vogue back then, the fans could have seen Hogan vs. Warrior vs. Savage.
This one is fairly obvious. Even though Savage and Flair had a good match, the match the world wanted was the Nature Boy vs. the Hulkster.
Vince dropped the ball on this one.
The whole Hogan getting involved at the end of the match was a joke. The Brutus Beefcake and Money Inc. storyline was just a way to get Hogan back to WrestleMania.
Undertaker vs. Gonzalez was a waste of time. Perhaps a Hogan vs. Undertaker would have been better if they really wanted to put the belt on Yoko.
The match which should have happened was a passing of the torch from Hogan to Bret.
Really not a bad card from top to bottom. Hart vs. Hart was only upstaged by Razor vs. HBK.
The main event, however, should have been Luger vs. Hart. Had Lex kept his drunken mouth closed, the fans would have seen it.
Perhaps the biggest waste of time, energy, and space on a WrestleMania card was this travesty known as L.T. vs. Bam Bam.
Lets get rid of this 11-minute travesty and give the time to Bob Backlund vs. Bret Hart to have an epic 30-minute I Quit match.
If not for HBK vs. Bret and Diesel vs. Taker, this could have been the absolute worst Wrestlemania ever.
Piper vs. Goldust tops the list of terrible matches and the sight of Dustin in lingerie was part of nightmares for weeks to come. Warrior vs. HHH was a squash and the world did not know of Stone Cold yet.
Perhaps a better match to put on the card would have been Warrior and Taker vs. two Kliq members, HHH and Diesel. The WWF had lost way too many stars too fast and did not develop younger stars to take those spots and it showed.
Lets get rid of the Sultan, the future Rikishi, vs. the Rock.
Instead let's get a preview of a rivalry which is ready to explode, HHH vs. the Rock.
Mero and Sable vs. Goldust and Luna belonged on RAW.
Luna was an accomplished wrestler and Sable was up and coming. Let's have the women beat the hell out of each other and leave the men in the locker room.
No wonder Undertaker is undefeated at WrestleMania, eight of his WrestleMania matches were against opponents who did not even belong on the WrestleMania card.
This match was perhaps the absolute worst Hell In a Cell match ever.
Also on this card was Butterbean beating the Hell out of Bart Gunn.
A Shamrock vs. Undertaker Hell in the Cell match would have been a lot better.
Why was Chyna teaming up with Too Cool, and the bigger question, why in the hell was Too Cool on a WrestleMania card? In addition what was the point of the Kat vs. Teri Runnels?
Lets get rid of these two and break down the Main event into a four man tournament instead of the fatal four way.
One of the best WrestleManias ever. No matches were really junk and even the gimmick battle royal was fun to watch.
Another really good WrestleMania with one exception, Maven. Get this clown off the show.
Those three minutes Maven and Goldust wasted could have been used for Edge and Booker T.
Lets get rid of A-Train and have a singles bout between Undertaker and Big Show.
I love T&A as much as the next guy, but lets leave the Miller Pillow Fight to an episode of RAW. Give the time to HBK and Jericho.
The card already had a a good Diva match with Victoria vs. Molly so this Playboy match was put on the card to sell some magazines.
The WWE should have kept this on RAW.
Big Show must be a glutton for bad WrestleMania matches. Why was he in a Sumo Match? WrestleMania 21 also brought out a mismatch between Trish and Chrissy Hemme.
Lita was injured, so a better divas match would have been Victoria or Molly vs. Trish. The reason for the terrible divas matches was the relationship between Playboy and the WWE.
Two terrible matches took up seven minutes of action which could have been used for the Triple Threat Match between Angle, Mysterio, and Orton.
A Playboy pillow fight and the Boogeyman vs. Booker T and Sharmell matches should have stayed on RAW and Smackdown, respectively.
If you want to recapture a Classic Moment, please have two wrestlers in the ring who are able to pull off a classic moment. Kane is a decent wrestler, but Khali is a worse version of Giant Gonzalez.
Instead of trying to recapture a classic moment, the producers should have put together a three to five minute vignette reliving the Andre-Hogan feud and match up from WrestleMania III.
In what could have Bigelow/L.T. part 2 actually turned out to be a decent match. The bad part was having Big Show job to the boxer.
Two other matches should not have been on the card. The Bunny Mania match should have been Beth Phoenix vs. Melina.
Batista vs. Umaga could have been a better match and had a better build up.
The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania had some good matches and was a decent card. A few matches such as Orton vs. HHH, did not live up to the hype, but HBK vs. Undertaker took everyone's breath away and was better than imagined.
Even Jericho vs. Steamboat, Piper, and Snuka surpassed the fans expectations.
The World title match should have been Edge vs. The Big Show. At least the WWE could have rewarded The Big Show from jobbing to a boxer.
