The Steelers are thinking of signing unrestricted free agent Larry Foote. After spending 7 years with the Steelers, he left in 2009 to join his hometown Lions because he didn't want to back up Lawrence Timmons. Back on the market after a year with 99 total tackles and 2 sacks, he is wanted by a variety of teams.

Foote is scheduled to meet with the Redskins and the Cardinals later this week, but the Steelers reportedly want to bring him in for depth if either Farrior, Timmons gets injured, or if James Harrison or Lamarr Woodley goes down. If so, Timmons would shift to outside linebacker and Foote would get the spot next to Farrior. Foote also could be an eventual replacement for James Farrior, who is 35 and in his 14th season in the NFL.

UPDATE:

Foote is supposed to visit the Steelers Monday, and, if he passes a physical, could reach an agreement with them.
