Ottawa Senators Come to Terms with Jason Smith
At 4:00 PM today, TSN reported that the Ottawa Senators have signed free agent defense man Jason Smith.
Smith, the best defense man left on the market, worked out a two-year deal that will pay him $2.6 million a season, amounting to a total amount of $5.2 million.
A veteran of 945 NHL games, Smith will add veteran leadership to the Senators and will ultimately act as Wade Redden's replacement.
The epitome of how a tough defense man should play, Smith has averaged over 200 blocked shots a season and will be a nice fit for the Ottawa Senators this season.
