It's not inappropriate to say that Kazuki Nakajima has failed to impress anyone during the past few season's; which is why a sudden insurgence of talent from Japan is surprising and welcome. In 2007 Kamui Kobayashi was confirmed to become the third driver for Toyota F1 and almost two years after his confirmation he scored his first points in Abu Dhabi's inaugural race during the 2009 season.

With only two Formula 1 races under his belt, Kamui set the stage to impress and showcase his talent. Following the end of the 2009 Season, BMW Sauber confirmed Kobayashi to pilot the C29-01 in the 2010 season. During Day Two of testing in Jerez at a fastest lap time of 1:19:950 beating out reigning World Champion Jenson Button.

In interviews Kamui is light-hearted but professional, he is excited about the prospects of the sport but is also mature enough to understand the difficulties and trials that lie ahead. I expect this season to be a successful one for the young driver and may prove to be a jumping-off point for him to one-day battle for the Driver's Title. Kamui Kobayashi is Japan's new hope.
