Frenchman Gilles Simon will be looking to find some of his best form for the ATP Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells California this week. Simon was in superb form in 2008 when he enjoyed victories over the world’s top 3 players Roger Federer Rafael Nadal and Nova Djokovic, he actually managed to beat Federer twice, at the Toronto Masters series event, and in the group stages of the ATP Masters Cup. Simon also reached the final of the Masters 1000 event in Madrid in 2008 beating the then World Number 1 Rafael Nadal to reach the title match where he faced Andy Murray, the Frenchman was beaten in straight sets by Murray. Injury held Gilles Simon back last season however if the Frenchman can get back to somewhere near his best he will be a huge threat at the Masters tournament this week and with a decent draw he could go all the way.
