How many of the WWE fans all around the world have thought at least once about what they would for the WWE if they were in the shoes of Vincent Kennedy McMahon?I'm pretty much sure that all of them.
I can tell about a lot of things that would pop out inmediately:Bring the Attitude Era back, eliminate the hated PG,bring back the Cruiserweight Championship, bring back old admired wrestlers like The Rock...Anyways,since there are so much things,I'm writing this article to show what my ten changes would be if at the head of the World Wrestling Entertainment.
ATTENTION:The following ten aren't platonic fantasies, like bringinb back The Rock for example...Those are ten POSSIBLITIES,things that could happen.
Since the introduction of the PG condition,WWE doesn't care anymore about putting awesome shows like they used to.All they care for now is selling stuff and making money(After all it does make sense, since business are to make the biggest amount of money you can. However, everybody but kids would appreciate a bigger effort in making a pro-wrestling show a bit more credible and exciting)Instead of being a serious show for teenagers and older it has become a Disney-like show, where the good guys are the honorable, the courageos, and the bad ones have to cheat in order to achieve a victory. In the old times the arenas used to be packed up of a feverish crowd ready to chant and scream, now those same arenas are full of kids and their parents, and most of times the crowd is in silence while the matches are on,except when some fan favorite like John Cena or Hornswoggle comes out,and the children jump off of their sites....
For too much time John Cena has been the golden boy of the company.Throughout his career he hasn't lost almost any feud, and has become the face of the company because of his charisma and ability to sell merchandise. Many people complain about Triple H,the son-in law of Vince McMahon, that wisely used the backstage politics to succeed, but not even him has being capable of defeat the man, even losing a match again him at Wrestlemania by submission...yes,by SUBMISSION,tapping out.
It's time to put an end to Cena's dominance.I won't talk about lack of wrestling skills, because if you watch the debut match of Cena vs Kurt Angle you'll get your mouth wide opened. All is WWE fault, who has dramatically reduced the moves that wrestlers would execute.
It'd be the time for John Cena to repay. Now finally he would lose a clean match and wouldn't make those heroics comebacks out of nowhere. He wouldn't be always in the main event. Thanks to this,we would see Randy Orton pinning Cena cleanly in a one-on-one,without Legacy or any illegal outside interference.
Finally John Cena will be a normal man and not a superhero.
Once upon a time there was a heel on the WWE...
This guy had a gimmick in which he was an Arab-American dissapointed of his country, and complained of the discrimination he always received from people because of his heritage. He was always hanging out with his manager Daivari,a guy that stood at the ringside supporting the heel, and that after every and each one of the heel's promos started an incomprensible speech apparently translating what the heel had said.
This heel matches mostly started at the stage with a quite-few-times-seen amount of heat from the crowd, continued with a defiant twist of the head and ended with a three count defeat for his oponent. This heel named himself Muhammad Hassan.
Only the people who actually watched Hassan on the ring and his promos knows what I'm talking about. One could've heard of him and never have watched and he's seen nothing. He had the charisma, the in-ring ability, the mic skills....
Muhammad Hassan is considered one of the top heels that the company have ever had since the Attitude Era.His release was one of the one million of errors the WWE have made.
Since a long time ago we have to watch in every Moday NIght Raw somebody that has nothing to do with the show (a baseball players,NASCAR driver, singer,TV commentarist...)come out to the ring or stay backstage just appearing on the screen, and say how excited he/she is for being on Monday NIght Raw,maybe make some jokes or a good comments about the city in which the show takes place, like:New Orleans, home of the Super Bowl Champions!! to make people cheer and don't get bored right away.
From the beginning of that policy until today's day, there have been just a bunch of Guest Hosts that have actually done a good job.In my opinion:Shaq O'Neill,Floyd Mayweather,Ben Roethlisberger,Jesse Ventura...
But,like I said, just a bunch.Mostly what the Guest Host do is hang out with the Bella Twins, stay off screen, and go on screen to grant petitions of matches. That's it.
I remember when Eric Bischoff was the GM of Raw and also when William Regal was.The shows were way better, and if you don't believe me,take a look at SmackDown and Teddy Long.
Way to go,"pleya"!
Apart from the top stars of the company and the young talent being developed, the rest of the roster is called "the mid-card".The luckiest of these mid-carders appear every week on the live shows, the least lucky appears every two or three weeks to be easily defeated or just to fill a position on one of the many stupid sketches that the company makes for the shows.Others are just seen in house shows, and maybe sometimes in Superstars. They may even put a better performance than some of the ones in the top,but they, like Jesse Ventura said once refering to himself "don't go with the flow"
Here are some names:
William Regal-an experienced veteran that has with him the whole package for success. He can cut excellent promos("Regal berates Hulkamania"),has excellent in-ring abilities and knows how to generate heat from the crowd due to his awesome heel characteristics.
Christian-born main eventer,at least received the longest title reign ever in ECW history, but since there's no more ECW he's now a mid-jobber in the RAW roster.Awesome skills all-round being awfully misused.
Shelton Benjamin-the Gold Standard has lately been everything but his nickname.Since when haven't we seen him winning a title? Some say that his not too good mic-skills are the only thing that have stopped him from being among the top stars. However,a shot at the main screen could help him to improve this.
Matt Hardy-an excellent worker that has been buried deep in the mid-card.No more Hardyz Boys, now he teams with the Great Khali and he'd better go with Jeff to TNA since he's not winning anything anytime soon.
Chavo Guerrero-after having the "worst feud of 2009" against Hornswoggle, what credibility remains for this guy that back in the time used to impress the crowd? Too bad,now we can expect nothing from him.RIP Eddie.
Kane-the Big Red Monster has became the Big Red Jobber.Without his mask is not quite the same, but you can try again with it and see what happens...Who knows?
Rey Mysterio is without a doubt one of the top stars on the WWE right now. However,in order to make the show more interesting and realistic it's necessary to do not let him win matches against guys like Batista.
For example,in the last Friday Night Smackdown he had an excellent match against Luke Gallows, but won after had been received a hell of a beaten. This result left me grimacing.I was like:Oh,really? And then remembered myself just like that way when he won the Rumble, and after a match with JBL where he probably received the beaten of his career and actually won.
It's beautiful such a thing as the weak defeating the strong, and to overcome the odds, but c'mon, not like that.It causes damage to the image of the show.
The same goes for every single high flyer in the WWE.They may win a match, maybe a championship, but rarely.
High flyers can put great matches so that's the why it's needed a Cruiserweight Championship, where those not so strong guys of the company can face each other and have a 50-50 in odds.
This Championship wouldn't be exclusive for one brand, since the high flyers and light weighted wrestlers are distributed among the four brands.
I can bet that most of the readers of this site agree with me when I say that this last run of DX left us with a sour taste in our mouth, and dissapointed.
The gimmick with Hornswoggle made them look off the ring like a childish duo that had nothing better to do that pursuit a leprechaun that liked to dress like them.
Where are those rebels that were always doing whatever they wanted and mocking other wrestlers.Where are those amazing performers that knew how make a show out of just themselves?Where are the guys that went to the WCW headquarters in a military jeep and bullied the people inside the building?
For those were Shawn Michaels and Triple H.
That DX one more time would be a pleasure to see,and a drink of nostalgia for the ones that actually were there while the Attitude Era.
From my point of view,in order to improve the quality of the shows it's needed good performances from the wrestlers and TIME.I can't tell how nice is for me to hear that RAW is going to air a 3 hours show(even though almost every time it happens my smile quickly disappears at the sight of a not-quite-good-as-expected show)
It's needed time for larger promos in order to build feuds stronger for the pay-per-views.It's needed time for larger and more exciting matches.I mean, for the ones who have gone to a house show, you can clearly see that the matches there are a thousand times better than the ones on the live shows.
Hence, there's no need of further explanations.I would make RAW and Smackdown 3-hour shows, and NXT and Superstars 2-hour shows.
About Superstars and NXT,I would create exclusive Championships for each.
Superstars wouldn't be anymore a house show-kind live show.WWE needs the development of young talent and those guys that are being so misused could show up there.
Stone Cold Steve Austin was, together with The Rock, the top superstars of the company during the Attitude Era.He was the one who guided the WWF in the war of ratings against the WCW.He's considered the best of all times in WWE history.
Randy Orton came to the WWE when he was very young.Slowly but consistently he has made his rise to the top,and being the youngest of the top stars of the company(29),I certaintly can't think of somebody better than him for carrying the company throughout a new era.
He's got everything that is necessary for being the top star on the company and in my opinion he would be so much better than John Cena would.
The Straight Edge gimmick brought by CM Punk has been gaining notoriety among the WWE community. The shaving of heads of three "saved" members of the crowd by he and Luke Gallows has become in what is now know as the Straight Edge Society.
CM Punk is a wrestlers with a great quality all-round.Nobody could me more fit to be a leader than him right now.Luke Gallows, after dropping his Festus gimmick has improved a lot in the mic and ring.We haven't actually seen the hot diva Serena fight anybody yet,but we've seen her kicking some guys while the SES is giving a beaten. The rookie Darren Young has also good in-ring skills, and his mic skills are incognite. There's also the possibility of further head shaving in order to bring more members to the stable.
DX was a revolutionary tag team and once stable. They were something never seen before. So was Evolution.Ahh,good old times where the men of Evolution were the force dominating RAW and almost the entire WWE.From Evolution growed up top superstars like Randy Orton and Batista.
And now we've got one more chance to do something like that. Now it can be created a force that dominates the company, holding all the titles in existence.Such a force is the Straight Edge Society.Quite a lot of top future superstars can be made from it.
This is my first article in the Bleacher Report and before doing it I thought about it a lot until the idea came up.I know how mean the readers and writers of this site can be at the time of commenting an article, and that is something good because it makes the one who is writing try to do his best and not just post someting considered SPAM.Don't forget to leave a comment or suggestions of which your ten changes would be,and about the article too.
Thank you for all the readers.
