In this ever-changing landscape that MMA has become since the demise of PRIDE there has been one question that has been looming in the heads of all true MMA fans. What about Fedor? This question seems like it will be at least somewhat answered when he squares off against the large former UFC champ Tim the Maine-iac Sylvia.
This card for Affliction: Banned will feature a good deal of talent which will even include Fedor's brother Aleksander Emelianenko. However, I would highly doubt that anyone will tune in to see Matt Lindland, we all want to see what Fedor can do. He has been questioned after Cro Cop's poor showing in the US, but substantiated by Minotauro's success, so it can go either way.
It will be intriguing to see how this card plays out considering how much it could make or break some careers including those of Josh Barnett, Matt Lindland, Babalu, Andrei Arlovski and the Emelianenko's. This is being billed as the biggest MMA event since UFC 1. This is going to be big!
Speaking of the only MMA behemoth left in business, the UFC has decided its going to call on its big guns to upstage Fedor's coming to America party. They aren't playing around either calling on Anderson Silva to move up to 205 to take on James Irvin and also take the worst ultimate fighter blowup ever in Jesse Taylor and pit him against CB Dolloway.
This seems like another Dana White publicity stunt and it is. However Dana knows that despite that people will tune in and it will take away from Affliction. Isn't that a shame? Not for Dana and the Fertittas, they know how this industry works.
July 19th will be a heck of a day not only warriors duking it out in the cage, but a new upstart organization swinging for the fences against the biggest MMA company in the world. So hold on tight because there's going to be fireworks!

you bragged on your own article? haha awesome!
You bring up some good points but I'd like to point out that UFC is ALMOST mainstream now (meaning my 60yr old mother knows some fighters names). It's on free public tv and holds fights multiple times a month in some cases. One big PPV is just being used to draw in a high dollar total to tell their investors that there is serious in their upstart. This is not the case. There is serious money in this one fight. They have to keep this caliber of match ups to be competitive and I don't think they can do it. UFC plans matches 4 months out. These people don't even know their next fight card.

All the fighters fighting, with the exception of fedor, are former UFC fighters. Yes the card should be a fun watch, but all of them are employing former UFC fighters, proving the UFC is the ultimate proving ground for the elite MMA artist.

While I agree I was a HUGE PRIDEFC fan and I like to see an underdog take on the goliath. Also, with guys like Babalu who have been kicked out of the UFC and guys like vovchanchyn, Yvel, Aoki, Sakurai, and Overeem who all seem to have a distaste for the UFC they may have some business soon enough. We'll have to wait and see.
